Amazing that I can run #NetBSD on the #Wii and log in via the internal Wi-Fi over SSH:

Welcome to NetBSD!

This is a development snapshot of NetBSD for testing -- user beware!

(The internal Wi-Fi seems to drop a lot of packets so getting a USB wired/wireless adapter seems the best plan.)

Over the years, my teams have made a lot of different browsers on a lot of different devices. Which of the browsers below have you tried?

Which one is your favorite?

Hyperkin recently released a new guitar controller for the #Wii, which must mean there’s still some market for that. A while back I got an optical mouse they make that connects to an #SNES or clone; way better than the original ball mouse from #Nintendo itself and good for games like _Mario Paint_ and _Wolfenstein 3D_.

If you’re looking for a fun, old-school multiplayer #videogame that’s simple, yet not simple, take a look at “PlateUp!”

We hooked up 4 controllers to a PS5 and had 4 people running around a restaurant. Customers come in, they contemplate the menu. You take their order, make the food, serve it up, and clean the plates for the next customer.

The mechanics are super simple. Run around. X to pick up/put down, and square to “do it” (chop vegetables, mop floors, wash dishes). And it’s fun having 4 people in the same room, meaningfully working on the same problem, shouting “order up!” like in a real restaurant. It has a wholesome fun feel like the old #nintendo #wii games.

The difficulty gradually goes up: more customers, more than one course, more complicated ingredients. And you can buy upgrades like automatic dishwashers and more dining tables.

Fun for any age. Young kids will probably find it fun, but I was playing with my 2 adult sons and high school sophomore. For $20, you’ll get more value than going to a movie theatre.
