Had it recorded for a while but finally got around to watching Dune: Part Two this evening. Enjoyable, looks spectacular of course. Still never read the books.
My main criticism of something like this movie, though, especially given it's part two and the overall running time now, is that I don't think it's got the re-watchability of the 1984 David Lynch version. It didn't even have a cameo of Sting in his underpants in it.

I finally got round to watching the second part of the sand movie. Visually spectacular, but left me rather cold due to the overly linear storyline and lack of jeopardy for the main characters (except at the very end, but we already knew who was going to win). Lots of good sequences, but the whole was less than the sum of the parts. #DunePartTwo

I’m not really talking about the challenging. That’s just like duels and having stand-ins so the nobles express discontent while killing other people instead of themselves. It’s more how both houses have ways of proving the butch manliness of their leaders in front of the masses - the #Atreides kill bulls, the #Harkonnens kill captives. Even if the other houses have versions of that, there’s a very specific resemblance between Atreides and Harkonnen.

#dune2 was entertaining. Fabulous photography! Oh, but the story! Even in the #books it bothered me how those sci-fi worlds with space travel technology battle using swords. I mean, they have laser cannons and whatnot, yet they chop and hack at each other? Also, to me, this #Chalamet kid is great for Disney, but as an action hero? Can’t digest it! But hey, I went into it without expectations other than to be entertained, and #Dune delivered!
