Is there any mainstream media that doesn't deserve and need to go bankrupt?

"Canceling the Economist subscription is a bye bye product of realizing that platforming climate change denier bullshit is part of an existential crisis. (via Tim Schlappohr ;)

"exhibit a: "Climate change is a by-product of progress, not an existential crisis"

When I saw the cover of this week's #Economist, I immediately thought of an educational cartoon from my childhood. But I don't think a British publication would base its art on US public broadcasting about US government. Maybe they don't use the same art on both sides of the pond, or maybe what I think of as "the #SchoolhouseRock bill" is a more widespread representation. Either way, I had a nostalgic laugh.

"Britain’s drug gangs and Moscow’s hackers were just two nodes in a vast criminal super-network [that] included sanctioned oligarchs, Russian intelligence operatives and an Irish crime family."

(and of course that network also now includes the #Trump administration, because Howard Lutnick is/was Tether's money manager and Justin Sun is now the Trump family's business partner in #WorldLibertyFinancial)

🤩📉 Russia’s economic growth collapses to zero, – reports The #Economist.

According to a high-frequency index by Goldman Sachs, Russia’s annual #GDP growth has plummeted from around 5% to 0%. Even the #Russian Central Bank, typically allergic to truth, cautiously admitted in early April that "several sectors have reported a decline in output due to a sharp drop in demand." That’s unusually honest — or maybe just unavoidable.
