As I have mentioned before, I believe that commercial #SocialMedia platforms are a dire threat to the long-term survival of human civilization (see also: #X , #Facebook ), and thus (barring any better alternatives) the #Fediverse needs to grow and replace them.
But there are a bunch of use cases for social media which aren't covered by assorted Fediverse applications yet. Here are the ones I could think of:
1. A "job networking" site, similar to #LinkedIn. Most of us live in a situation where we have to work for a living, and hunting for prospective job opportunities and business connections is useful. This is where we can post our CVs and talk about our field of business.
2. A "Question and Answer" site, similar to #Quora. Having some way of people publicly asking questions that can be publicly answered by other people is not a bad idea, especially since #GoogleSucks these days. However, there is no reason why such a site should be overrun by fascist trolls the way Quora is, and Fediverse approaches to moderating instances should help dampen that down.
3. The equivalent of small business websites with strong social media integration. I know a lot of people are against the idea of any commercial aspects to the Fediverse, but we do live in a late-stage Capitalist hellscape where people need to make a living somehow. And the alternative is leaving this aspect to Facebook, with all of its assorted problems. A _staggering_ number of small businesses around the world, especially but not only in underdeveloped countries, do not otherwise have their own website, but they _do_ have a Facebook business page. And we need something similar for the Fediverse if we want to cater to all of these people.
