The Wellbeing controls available in Ubuntu 25.04 make it easy to get periodic prompts to move your butt or look away from your screen — you might not want them enabled all the time, though. Wellbeing controls were one of the flagship features of GNOME 48. As well as screen time monitoring (with controls to set a screen time limit, and turn the display greyscale when it’s reached), you can enable reminders to take a break and move. Je n’avais pas vraiment d’opinion au sujet du changement des polices par défaut dans GNOME 48, je n’étais même pas sûr de voir la différence sans comparaison directe.

Mais en fait, à l’usage, ça saute assez vite aux yeux. Pour autant ce n’est pas désagréable, ça ne vient pas non plus bousculer les habitudes, au contraire j’ai même l’impression qu’on y gagne, en lisibilité ça serait exagéré et ça sous-entendrait qu’avant ça ne l’était pas, mais en confort de lecture, oui !

After upgrading to #gnome 48, I had to reinstall my extensions, but they all worked once I'd done that. I wasn't left with any that are broken. #gnome48

GNOME 48 was released yesterday with a battery charge limit option. It only supports specific laptops with a start/end charge threshold. In the future we hope to expand this by support the new charge_types kernel API in UPower. This requires existing drivers to be ported to this new kernel sysfs API. https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/upower/upower/-/issues/285

There are (sadly) still multiple out of tree drivers which could be mainlined to support a battery preservation option. But I haven't been able to get my hands on an Acer, Asus TUF, Gigabyte laptop to get this going.

Scrolling is just as smooth as it's on Android.

Anybody experiencing hangs of the user interface in GNOME 48 RC2 on Debian trixie testing/unstable sid unstable?
Most of the time some Ctrl-Alt-F1 Ctr-Alt-F2 switching fixes it, but I just had a complete unrecoverable hang (at least not without ssh-ing into the machine), even though Shift Lock was still working, so it does not appear like the kernel had crashed. AMD Ryzen integraded Radeon GPU, Mesa 24.3.4, Linux kernel 6.13.
