So I’m starting to see more and more of the new #Tesla #ModelY units on the streets of Silicon Valley. They are still quite rare, given the fact that they are Tesla’s number one selling model. But one thing I noticed is that they are driven almost entirely by Asians.
I live in Sunnyvale, where half the residents are Asians. But I have literally seen ONE newer Tesla Model Y driven by a non-Asian, EVER (excluding one that had a limousine-rental sticker on it, I’m not counting that one). First I thought I was just a victim of Bayesian probabilities, but it’s been months now, and I think I should have seen more non-Asian drivers.
For comparison, I about half the #Cybertrucks I see here are driven by buff, bearded, white dudes in baseball caps, so I think my observation about Model Ys have some interesting demographic implications.
Or does it? I dunno. I just like to judge people who drive them. My neighbor just got one and I guess I’ll never talk to them again.
Yes, they’re Asian.
