From my occasional series: “Why You Should Avoid #NewBuild, Specifically The Amateur Hour Clown Show That Is #ScotiaHomes

Woke up this morning thinking it was a bit parky (Highlands of Scotland ‘n all) so nudged the tado into life to take the chill off

Nada. Nothing. Zilch.

The central heating is no more. It has ceased to be. It’s expired and gone to meet its maker.

Luckily we’re not in the depths of winter. Yet.

Avoid Scotia Homes — they’re overpriced bodging w⚓️s

… in other news a little birdy tells me #ScotiaHomes may be facing bankruptcy over 500 houses clad with a German product that is failing after a few months. The manufacturer (like C R Smith for the windows and doors) is refusing to replace as Scotia’s bodgers installed the cladding incorrectly.

Scotia will go bust if 500 houses need cladding replaced.

So, best avoid the charlatan clown show. There are other developers that aren’t quite as shit as #ScotiaHomes.

We’re having to threaten #ScotiaHomes with the NHBC/lawyers because the house they charged an extortionate ‘developer premium’ for has been built by wankers supervised by overpaid tossers.

Our #NHBC complaint reference is the 33,167th they’ve received this year.

That gives you an indication of just how utterly shit UK construction is.

Developers know you’ve got fewer rights on a £400k new home than a tin of beans and take the piss

Avoid new build. Its crap.

Have I mentioned recently what an unutterably shit bunch of bodging, amateur hour cowboys #ScotiaHomes are?

Pro tip, lovers from someone who’s done this rodeo five times: avoid #newbuild homes. They’re overpriced shoe boxes built without about as much care as you’d expect from a pissed up 13 yr old on acid.

Unless of course you love DIY and are happy to pay over the odds for badly built crap. Then fill yer boots — may I recommend Persimmon for the shittiest homes out there?

Oh how wrong I was. Electrical contractor takes great #PrideInTheBodge too.

Shame. We were going to get them to install more solar, but they can go swivel.

If you want to know who they are so you can avoid a bodgetastic electrical install drop me a line.

Maybe Scotia Homes can only attract bodgers?

If you’re looking to #NewBuild — avoid them like the plague.

If you’re thinking of buying a #newbuild home in Scotland I can thoroughly recommend you give clown show #Scotia Homes a very very wide berth.

They overcharge for substandard homes and run chaotic developments that will put new resident’s health at risk.

They are an amateur hour joke of a developer.

Just a reminder for any lovers tempted by a #ScotiaHomes #newbuild home — don’t do it!

They market themselves as a cut above. In reality their as piss poor at quality control as the worst of the worst. They’re currently on a par with Persimmon — and Persimmon are the shitiest of all.

Avoid lovers. Even Barratt is preferable — and that’s saying something.

#Computer #NewBuild
I finally got all the hardware together and ironed out most of the bugs and I went live with my new machine today. After I had been playing away for an hour or so, this disquieting message popped up informing me that I was running an "unauthenticated" copy of Windows. Same copy, only a different computer. So I reluctantly went to the authentication page in settings to find out what THIS was going to cost me. Luckily I still have my purchased copy of Windows 7, because I used the serial number from it and Microsoft authenticated Windows 10 for me. My old machine still works after twelve years, slow by todays standards, but I hope I'm as lucky with the new one.

I'm nearly finished building my new computer. I cloned my boot drive from my old machine. I used EaseUS Partition Manager to change the copy from an MBR disk to a GPT disk, installed it in the new machine and it booted right up. I put the original boot drive back in the old machine, which I plan to use until I get all the bugs out of the new one. I moved my wifi antenna to the new machine and downloaded the drivers I needed and at this point I can surf the internet, watch a movie or listen to music on it (most of what I use a computer for.) Still a couple of hiccups. The front panel USB ports are supposed to connect with a cable that ends in a plug that has no corresponding socket on the motherboard. The six port SATA expansion card I bought doesn't work so I'm returning it for another one. A humbling and worthwhile experience that resulted in a computer that is 4 times as fast as this one. If I can do it, you can do it.
