'Sinners' will be streamed on Max in BASL (Black American Sign Language) - the first time a streaming service has ever done this.

'BASL is “a distinct dialect of American Sign Language (ASL) with its own dynamic history and unique grammar, signing space, rhythm, facial expressions and cultural nuances,” and "marks “a major step forward in accessibility, representation and visibility in streaming." '

If boaters could sign even 20 words, we could communicate with each other.

Perhaps such warnings as:
• Person In Water.
• Unpowered Craft.
• Underwater Obstacle.
• Boat Behind Me (out of view).
• X Feet Clearance (at a bank or lock).

Or such messages as:
• I'm Mooring Here/Now.
• Your Boat Will Fit Here.
• I Want To Pass You.

What phrases would you want every boater to know?

My youngest appears to have selective mutism. She often goes silent when she's hungry or emotionally distraught. Does anybody have suggestions as to some good resources for basic signing? I could also use some suggestions as to which signs are the most useful to learn. I'm thinking that if I can learn some, I can teach her as well, and it will really smooth things out when she's unable to speak.
