I wish this interview from the day after #Sinead on SNL, were widely seen.
Her childhood abuse, high sensitivity, devotion to truth & humanity, & her deep processing of history, put her ahead of her time.
When she said the cycle of child abuse, instigated globally by churches (partnered w/colonial powers), is at the root of addictions & suffering, she was 100% right. GOP's 6 Catholic abusers rely on corruption, lies, & control of women's bodies & labor. She fought it.
Like many fifty-somethings I saw Sinéad O'Connor as my contemporary. We grew up in the same Ireland.
Sinéad shaved her head and stood up and shouted out the hypocrisies that suffocated us while I grumbled and sucked it up. Sinéad was angry and courageous and fragile.
I last saw her perform at the Cork Opera House in October 2019. She was still angry and courageous and fragile. I was always in awe of her. I still am. #Sinead #Ireland #Gra

Hundreds of people turned out in the picturesque Irish coastal town of Bray for the funeral cortege of acclaimed artist Sinead O'Connor who died last month at the age of 56.
In addition to her family and friends, Irish leaders were also present at O'Connor's memorial service.
