Spring Has Sprung

Not far from my hometown in Northern California there is a road that leads up into surrounding hills/mountains. After a long winter with some very hard rains the local fruit and nut trees start bursting with blossoms in the springtime. I drove out Pleasant Valley Road, turned off onto Mix Canyon Road and a few miles up the road I was greeted with this scene. Spring Has Sprung This is an image that was captured during the spring time of an orchard in Solano County in Northern California. The grass in between the Walnut trees is a deep rich green reflecting plenty of rain during the winter. The Almond trees started blooming a short time ago and have not hit full bloom yet. White petals fill the inner branches but the outer branches are still mostly bare. The trees form a crop row that leads to the back of the orchard. The Solano County hills rise steeply in the back of the property.

We've just had the most exceptional visit from a friend. It's been such a long time since we were able to have an in-depth chat complete with great food and belly laughs. We so needed that. As part of her three-day stay, we walked the property, pointing out our favorite birds and, of course, sniffing flowers. We'd love to share some of the beauty that we sauntered past:

Four pale bluish-purple violet blossoms with bitty speckles all over. The variety of violet is named "Freckles," which exactly fits them. Their leaves are also a deep green.
Four bright lemon yellow primrose blossoms nestled among deep emerald leaves.
Four separate delicate stalks of spring green containing numerous pristine white bleeding hearts. The surrounding leaves are also a lovely spring green.
