I had a lovely time playing EoW while recovering from top surgery, so I wanted to share my experience with the final boss and ending. This is filmed "OG-Kabba Style" since I was playing it through the TV and didn't feel like setting it up through my PC in order to screen record. I hope you enjoy it all the same! Make more of this type of classic Zelda-inspired game, please Nintendo! 🧝🏼‍♀️

Funko Pop aesthetic, "borrowed power" gimmicks, and unnecessary dialogue about Link being "the hero" while Zelda is "the priestess" aside...

I had a mostly great time. Too many monsters for a game where fighting is less than straightforward, perhaps, but there were some great combat puzzles.

The game also expanded #ALinkToThePast's map in interesting ways, with neat puzzle and obstacle designs.

I didn't see this Echoes of Wisdom title screen until I'd finished the game. I always suspended the game instead of quitting. It features the Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom logo with the Tri Rod integrated into the design. The background image is a view focused on Hyrule Castle. In the left half you can see the faraway Eldin volcano, where the Gorons live, and on the right is Hebra Mountain (mistranslated as Death Mountain back in A Link to the Past). In front of Hebra and east of Hyrule Castle you can see a familiar rock formation from ALttP, but beyond that... and a glimpse of Lake Hylia in the bottom-right corner... most landmarks are obscured by the relatively low angle and the abundance of trees. The game world itself is an expanded and somewhat re-imagined version of the one from A Link to the Past, so it's reasonable to assume that the game takes place at some point after A Link Between Worlds and before the original The Legend of Zelda. (Unless it takes place later still and we're just supposed to not think too much about the map layouts in the original two NES games.)
My Zelda is upset about the "events" at the start of the game and decides to lash out by embracing her inner pyromaniac. (Pictured is the interior of an early cave from Echoes of Wisdom, where Zelda has set the grass-covered ground on fire. The fire has at this point spread through most of the cave, leaving burnt remains of the vegetation behind.)
In the Gerudo Desert (which is *significantly* expanded to the west when compared to A Link to the Past), Zelda has her first encounter with her new girlfriend, Dohna. Dohna is a young adult Gerudo with short, red hair. She seems to be wearing a white crop top with a matching pair of shorts with gold trims. She has a necklace or brooch with a green stone, and a decorative, golden headdress with another green stone at the center of a sun shape. Zelda, meanwhile, is wearing a pink commoner's dress with Link's blue cloak on top. Zelda has just pulled Dohna out of the sand, after she had a very unfortunate encounter with some monsters. Dohna looks around asks: "Ugh... What happened? The monsters... They're gone?"
In the home of the Sea Zora to the east of the old A Link to the Past map, Zelda encounters her other new girlfriend, the Sea Zora chief called Kushara. Echoes of Wisdom makes sure to differentiate the River Zora from the NES/SNES games and the Sea Zora introduced in Ocarina of Time as two distinct but co-existing Zora tribes with their own leadership but a shared reverence for Lord Jabu-Jabu: a whale-like guardian deity. Kushara is a light-blue, elegant Sea Zora with white flippers, face and belly, who wears a tiara seemingly made from seashells. Her throne room is crafted from blue stone and coral ornaments with the throne itself looking like a yellow starfish. A pair of small waterfalls also help keep the floor mostly covered with fresh seawater. In the throne room are also two other Zora: one light blue female Zora (left) with a starfish on her head, who very sapphicly admires Kushara, and a dark blue male Zora (right). They seem to act as advisors or retainers. Kushara, speaking to the male Zora, says: "Lord Jabu-Jabu loves our sea music. So I need only get him to listen to us perform."
