Today, March 19, in 1928, at 4:31 AM, a man is born who will eventually retire from his role as a secret government agent and be sent to a mysterious remote village, where he will be known only as “Number Six” (The Prisoner, s01e01 "Arrival", 1967)

Patrick McGoohan becomes the highest paid actor in Britain. Twenty-four episodes of Danger Man were sold to CBS for £400,000, which placed McGoohan in the £2,000 a week bracket.

I’ve been digging for bricks, and uncovered this at Hobbs End, just in time to display at Bricktastic 22-23 February at Manchester Central

Danger Man (1960-68)

Patrick McGoohan starred as John Drake, NATO agent. The series was stop-start - two years on, two years off, two years on, two years off, then a final year. The initial episodes lasted half an hour. Then, due to the popularity of James Bond, Drake returned in hour-long episodes, this time as a member of the British secret service, working for MI9.

If you haven't seen The Prisoner, you won't have a clue about this. If you have, who do you think was Number One?

Very sorry to hear that Christopher Benjamin has passed away. Some of you will know him best as Henry Gordon Jago from that classic Doctor Who adventure, The Talons of Weng-Chiang, but if you are around about the age that I am, then Mr Benjamin will be a familiar face from many a film and television series. He was in three (count 'em, THREE!) episodes of The Prisoner.

Not just a very fine actor but a splendid gentleman too.

They would fit right in at The Village. Now I must say “be seeing you…”

Enjoyed this #movie ! Seen worse adaptations anyway! Plus it has that ‘orange alert’ bloke in it from #theprisoner, great #cinematography at times and a greatest road killing from a #VW van (I’m biased!) …and #AnthonyHopkins! What’s not to like?
