#Labour's huge majority in #parliament had been long predicted. In the end it was a bit less than they'd hoped, and the mere 33% it represents is frankly embarrassing.
But there were some other #Leftist details of the #UKElection I was particularly focused on:
1. Would #JeremyCorbyn win as an independent in #IslingtonNorth after being deselected as a Labour MP? You know Labour threw everything they could at beating him.
Corbyn won with 49.2% of the votes, to Labour's 34.4%
1/?
Amazing result. Very happy.
But this is forever going to be the election when I remember hearing Alastair Campbell take a piss live on Channel 4 at 4.30 am. Some conversation. Some loud toilet flushing. Even the audible zipping up of his fly, before coming back to the table to show exactly whom we'd just heard.
I DO NOT WANT TO THINK ABOUT HIS REGIONAL ASSEMBLY!
Regional breakdown of the seats declared:
Linke und liberale Parteien im weiteren Sinn kommen bei der #ukelection zusammen fast auf 60% der popular vote. Das ist schon deutlich gegen den europäischen Trend. Vielleicht war der Brexit ja doch ne gute Idee?
I only get my election news from reputable, verifiable sources #Oxford #UKElection
In 2019, Labour under Jeremy Corbyn secured 10,292,354 votes.
In 2024, following a lying and disgraced Johnson, a trash-everything Truss, and a Sunakered UK, Labour under Starmer have secured 9,698,409 votes… with just 1 seat left to declare.
A historic fk up is what it is
