Asymptomatic COVID-19 Infections can cause hidden blood vessel and red blood cell changes.

Life Science Alliance · Epigenetic liquid biopsies reveal endothelial turnover and erythropoiesis in asymptomatic COVID-19Understanding the full spectrum of tissues affected by SARS-CoV-2 is crucial for deciphering the heterogeneous clinical course of COVID-19. We analyzed DNA methylation and histone modifications in circulating chromatin to assess cell type–specific turnover in patients ranging from asymptomatic to severe cases, in relation to clinical outcomes. Severe COVID-19 was marked by a massive elevation of circulating cell-free DNA (cfDNA) from lung epithelium, cardiomyocytes, vascular endothelium, and erythroblasts, indicating increased cell death or turnover. The immune response was reflected by elevated B-cell and monocyte/macrophage cfDNA and an interferon response before cfDNA release. Strikingly, monocyte/macrophage cfDNA (but not monocyte counts), as well as lung epithelial and endothelial cfDNA, predicted clinical deterioration and duration of hospitalization. Asymptomatic patients had elevated immune cfDNA but no evidence of pulmonary or cardiac damage. Surprisingly, these patients showed elevated endothelial and erythroblast cfDNA, suggesting subclinical vascular and erythrocyte turnover are universal features of COVID-19, independent of disease severity. Epigenetic liquid biopsies provide a noninvasive means of monitoring COVID-19 patients and reveal subclinical vascular damage and red blood cell turnover.

Wildfire smoke driving PM2.5 levels to over 500 μg/m3 in parts of Canada and the USA weather.gc.ca/firework/firewor

That level is extremely hazardous to health. If you can smell smoke, even if the air looks pretty clear, trust your nose, and if you can clean the air - with an air filter (indoors) or an N95 (indoors and out)!

(This post brought to you by some 🤡 claiming that visibly brown-grey air, an irritated throat, and diffuse, very orange-yellow sunlight were signs of humidity, which might be funny if it weren't literally painful.)

wearing an N95 :n95: when there's wildfire smoke 🔥💨 cuts between 19/20 and 999/1000 of dangerous PM2.5

fine particulate matter (PM2.5) pollution released by wildfires is even more toxic [...]

neurotoxic particles [...] including heavy metals [...]

These particles can reach the brain via the olfactory nerve and pass through the blood–brain barrier

And indoors, where PM2.5 from wildfire smoke does still reach, air purifiers are also highly effective!

wearing a respirator signifies that one is disabled to the ableists [...] terrified of their disabled-selves, and that’s what respirator discipline reminds them of.

they feel fear when they see the respirator - and this is why they associate the practice with fear, altho it is more a correlate of courage.

on the flip side,

lack of or refusal to practice respirator discipline during the sars2 event

facetanking is a practice that destroys any bodily autonomy, theoretical or otherwise, in everybody around the disease spreader - for a sars2 spreader is someone who is weaponizing the air in the lungs of the bodies of the other.

public airspaces are shared spaces in the most radical sense imaginable - everymonkey sharing body fluids and particles with each other all the time.
