This is my farewell to #HarryPotter. Harry Potter helped me put a backstory, names, spells, and imagery to my love of the idea of magic. I was the same age as Harry when the books came out, and I grew up when he did. When JK Rowling was on her second American signing tour, | and a thousand other kids dressed in capes went to a party at Naperville Central, bought a reprint of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone from Anderson’s Books, and watched as my favorite author signed my books. And I was betrayed along with everyone else when JK Rowling decided that neither I nor my friends deserved the legal right to exist and started punching down as viciously and energetically as Voldemort ever did when killing mudbloods.
Now, supposedly, this bigot’s signature is worth somewhere between $1000-$2000. I have friends and chosen family who can’t afford to stay alive. So I'm auctioning off my signed copy of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. The amount of money I raise from selling off She-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named’s signature could be the thing that tilts the odds far enough in my friends’ favor that they get to be in the ‘girls-who-lived’ category. I cried hard enough when Cedric Diggory died, and he was an imaginary friend. | don’t want to cry for real friends.
A few thousand dollars would be enough to buy more of the magical bezoar medicine (aka anti-cancer drugs) that are currently keeping my friend and fellow magical human Tinu Abayomi-Paul (gofund.me/172c2fb0) in the ‘living’ category. A few thousand dollars would help me pay off the slumlords who keep trying to throw my bestie and fellow magical human Mae Johnson (patreon.com/ CHRONICLOAF) into the street.
If tales of a boy forced to live in the closet and battle abuse formed a core part of discovering your identity, here’s a chance to enjoy an artifact from that era secure in the knowledge that not a single knut will go to She-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named. My #disabled friend is being #renovicted -- the text in the #gofundme (gofundme.com/f/sebmk-needing-a) says it's not an eviction but it was later determined it is absolutely a renoviction so they can turn the building into Air B&Bs (FUCK AIR B&B #airbnb #airbb).

They can't find a place, no one returns their calls, they have well-behaved cats, and they are right now at risk of their only option being overstaying their tenancy (which brings with it potential legal issues).

Obviously no one can help with the fact that #landlords are scum, but if you feel like you can help even in a small way, please do, it would be greatly appreciated.
