Latest commission I just delivered to the customer. A silver signet ring decorated with the customer's own sigls and set with two small emeralds.
I love the contrast of shiny polished silver vs the rough oxidised surface.

A thousand years ago, a goldsmith from Hornelund, Denmark created this gold clothes brooch, using delicate tracery to form its intricate pattern of foliage & vine leaves. Who could have known that it would still be admired a millennium later!

I got a stall at a market on Sunday, so checking what I have in stock. I have been doing CAD design (mainly wedding and engagement rings) for 18 years, 99% of it being trade work. The CAD market has changed, I got no desire to invest in expensive 3d printers or compete with big service bureaus, so recently I have found myself drifting more into handmaking territory. Recycled this silver band, that was due to be scrapped. I sawed off the worn centre and added the fleur de lys- pattern.
I love how sometimes jewellery is like building lego, fitting odd bits together.

Found another old stone, lovely green like previous one. Currently no idea where it came from but I am making enquiries.. This one has got mossy details within, making it really relaxing to look at. Some of the really worn old stones I will get repolished, others I like to leave as thet are, showing their previous life. Thinking whether to make another lily pond-pendant or maybe a long and opulent drop earring.

After what felt like YEARS the summer hols are nearly over and I have managed to get back to the workshop again.
This is a ring I made today from a recycled ring shank, it is set with a blue cz which I had laying about for years - it found its rightful place in this ring.

My workbench is at a jewellers which was established over 100 years ago. While rummaging in the storage room I came across this little green stone, probably untouched since the 70s. It came out of an unwanted piece of jewellery which was sent to be melted and the stone was thrown into a box full of odds and ends. The colour reminded me of an overgrown pond, water lillies and reeds so I turned it into this cute little pendant. #MastoArt #jewelleryDesign #reuse #CommissionsOpen #goldsmith #silver

Loved making this silver pendant for a customer - they had a sentimental piece of pewter (which is very soft) so I set it into this shield shaped pendant. The bale is CAD, rest is handmade.

Chunky hand carved silver rings have returned from hallmarking. The process of hallmarking is a bit of a pain (unless you are based near the office and can drop them off in person) but for a customer it is a guarantee. The marks tell you the metal is what the seller says it is, you can see who made it, where it was made and when.
