ok, today was an effing long day. But the pods are loaded (to the brim!) with all my crap.

And I do mean "crap". I feel like I have way too much stuff. And I jettisoned a ton of things I was already feeling marginal about and had decided to bring and deal with on the other side, but when I discovered we were in danger of going to 3 boxes, not 2... hell no! (it'd be another $1K at least).

I do wish I had dealt with it better in advance and freecycled some of the stuff that I (sadly) had to end up junking. But my car was already loaded and the apartment was all packed and I needed to start my journey (tomorrow a.m.)

But fuuuuuuck this was a loooong (and crazy hot and humid) day.

2 large boxes (10 feet high?) (one made of wood, the other metal) on a trailer behind a blue pickup truck, parked on a small street. seriously three strong people in their 20s should be able to do most of the move necessary in one day. I'm basically begging at this point.

I've made a lot of progress in physical therapy the past two years but five minutes of standing in front of my desk trying to box it up? my heart rate's nearing 140 and my back is screaming at me.

if I go at the rate I am physically capable of, it will never get done.

I'd rather get help from strangers on here than from strangers on Craigslist or other service ads sites. historically bad luck at the latter. please share and tag anyone who might be able to help.

if not please help me with money so I can hire movers to come and do what we cannot. even moving just across a yard is expensive and I haven't yet done so because I want things to be ready but at some point it will be what it is.

another moving-across-country question for the Fediverse!

I'm trying to decide whether to move my keyboard (a Casio Privia) and bass amp in the car-top Thule box instead of putting it in the U-Haul "U-Box" pod. Both the kbd and amp are well padded with moving blankets, heavyweight cardboard, etc.

I was inclined to take them with me in the Thule box (less chance of damage I think) but then I realized that the black Thule box is going to get HOT, driving x-c in the summer.

So what do you think? Better off in the U-Haul pod (which will go on a big flatbed truck with other pods)? I think the pod will get plenty hot too.

I can't decide.

Breaking down rooms in preparation for our move. This our living room setup for the next few days - minimalist and rustic. The rest of our large living room is a pile of disassembled Ikea furniture. Which Casper is inspecting for potential new hiding places.

Two antique rocking chairs with reed seat material and cushions sit on either side of a rustic end table. The chairs are from our front porch and are now temporary seating in our living room. On the end table sits a lamp with a beige coloured shade and a multi-coloured rug is underneath it all.

I think Harley is going to miss her large play area - which is a few acres, including our neighbour's yard where her buddy lives - and her front porch where she can keep watch while sunning herself. She is well trained to never approach the road out front, and we've never needed a fence. I think more walks are in our future, which is a good thing.

It's only a week away until the moving truck arrives and puts an end to our 16 years in Caledon. Today, I'm taking some time to squeeze in 9 holes of golf with my brother, who has a cottage close to our new home. My car is packed with 11 different plants that we split from our current garden, over 70 individual plants for the new house. Two planters will have to wait for the next trip.

Numerous pots are piled into the back of my small SUV, as seen from the right side back door. The bottom of my golf bag can be seen on the lower left.
A giant blue hosta, planted in a recycling bin, takes up most of the hatch in my car. My golf clubs are squeezed in on the right.
Two large pots with plants are sitting on the floor of our garage, wondering if they will ever see their friends again. Soon, little buddies.... soon.

Movers arrive today. For as much as I’ve moved this is probably the biggest and most stressful one of all. I think it’s because it’s the first time we’re actually selling the house versus renting and moving into something that’s the same size. We are definitely downsizing and trying to get all of that figured out while working and getting prepared for the movers has been a lot. But today is the day! We are getting packed today and the truck is getting loaded on Monday and then we will hit the road on our way to #duluth #minnesota And honestly, I am so excited! #moving

Does anyone know if Fedex drivers are allowed to leave your package up outside stairs if your apartment is up the stairs in a 4-plex?

Having a panic attack he'll leave the 2 very large rolled up area rugs at the bottom of the stairs, or worse at the front of the house and I will have to drag them around back and upstairs by myself

We did a site visit to the new house in Innisfil to plan our furniture placement and determine what we need to purge. My wife has a list of improvements that are "mandatory," so I guess it's a smaller, less expensive moneypit.
We also toured the area and stopped at a park right on the lake where we ran into this large group of fluffy goslings. I tried to get closer but the parents were giving me not so subtle warnings.

I know there are a lot of lying cheating violent drug addled people here in Pueblo, but this requirement to pay a $55 application fee and get pre-qualified BEFORE I can even look at a potential rental is just BULLSHIT

I wouldn't live in any of these dumps but I can't even look at them without paying $55 and submitting all my financial info

How is this legal???

This whole city is about grift. I am so so sorry I am stuck here for 3 years.
