A Glasgow Corporation Lighting Department ghost sign at the entrance to a tenement close on High Street in Glasgow, featuring a phone number with the BELL extension of the nearby Bell Telephone Exchange, which opened in 1936.
I prefer gods that talk. Gives a sign. Even a lumber yard will put up a sign.

So, one of my coworkers recently left. For context, I do environmental work.
Sitting in the back seat of his truck as I cleaned it out (and it was filthy) was this. A damaged speed limit sign.

Love these old-fashioned cast-iron road signs in the Carmunnock area of Glasgow.
I found this fantastic little ghost sign today at the entrance to a tenement close on High Street in Glasgow. The tenement was built in 1901, but the phone number (Bell 976) indicates the sign dates from sometime between 1936, when the Bell Telephone Exchange opened on nearby Ingram Street, and the 1960s, when the Bell prefix was phased out in favour of the numerical ones 552 and 553.

@gparenti @fembot Your photo made me think of this one I took there in 2013. I was most interested in the sign above the door, but the locked gate forced me into a different, and probably better, framing of the shot.
