My medieval fair getup!
I did not aim for historical accuracy, just went with general ~*vibes*~. The bags were made the day before the event, smaller one finished at 11pm.

This is the first time I've actually made an outfit specifically for an event, and I had a lot of fun with it! I'm proud to say that everything but the belt is handmade, even though the bags were less than ideal (smaller one didn't fit my phone, bigger one kept folding in on itself). The shoes have me blisters after walking on uneven terrain for five hours, but they were surprisingly good to wear!
There's two more events this summer that I could attend wearing all this, we'll see if I will.

Stays: Demeter by De la Fère Couture
Big bag: A combination of winging it and tote/backpack hack from (https://mellysews.com/my-perfect-travel-bag/)
Small bag: Technically the Jalo bag by Named, but the pattern was missing so I guessed the dimensions and followed their instructions for assembly.

Trying on my medieval fest getup and working on a bag to take with me. Dress still fits under the stays so no such thing as too much poof here!
Belt should have another bag attached it come Friday. It's still in the form of fabric and plans but I have faith! At least that one I won't be completely winging like I've been doing with this one. 
Hoping for good weather on the day. 
Ps. I think I need to shorten the corset lacing. There's way too much of it!

I'm having my usual issue with not being able to picture what things would look like in different fabrics or even a pattern rather than just solid colour.
Right now this just looks like garbage, but that could also just be my depressed brain doing it's thing.

For something so simple I sure did take my time with it! I think I finished sewing at the end of last year (it's already on the 2024 makes post...) but did not make the buttonholes or add the buttons until the last few weeks.
Made from a thrifted duvet cover and is more of a wearable toile. For the next one I want to get a narrower width, longer top and not so low cut neckline.
The making itself was fairly painless, especially since I used Birgitta's tutorials on her blog to sew some of the trickier bits. Opted out of using the offcuts for reinforcement as that felt like unnecessary waff. I've already plans to make a blouse version of this too!
Feeling brave today and wearing this to work to see how it works in the day-to-day.

Working on a top inspired by the Rori wrap top by DIY Daisy. (https://www.diydaisy.com/blog/tutorial-rori-wrap-top)
Instead of the patternless layout on Daisy's tutorial I used an existing pattern and simplified it by leaving out the darts and extending the length. The ruffle is made with Daisy's instructions but instead of using the whole width I folded it in half to give it more structure. That might've made the thickness a bit too much as both my sewing machine and my serger made very worrying noises while I was sewing the ruffle on. 
I think I'll try Daisy's method on the other side, this way my bra was a bit too visible from the side and I'd rather not worry about that when wearing a garment. Also I'm not fully convinced with how it looks. 
I think this would look cute with a long skirt though!
(One of these days I'll clean that mirror.)
Very tiny handstitching on very tiny trousers! I believe this invisible method is called a ladder stitch? It's my favourite one, very satisfying.
I've actually learned to like hand sewing as of late, mostly because I never have to unpick that. 
Eilisestä ompelusta ja vaateongelmasta tuli vielä mieleen... Yksi syy, miksi en löydä itselleni valmisvaatteita, ovat kuosit. Naisille on kukkaa, kukkaa, kukkaa, viherkasvi, kukkaa kukkaa kukkaa, viherkasvi, kukkaa, kukkaa, lintu, viherkasvi, kukkaa... Ja nämä usein erinnäisissä punertavissa pastellisävyissä.
Kuosittomat vaatteet ovat sitten mustia, pinkkejä tai muita hempeitä värejä.
Aivan eka ompeluni oli kirkkaansiniset collegehousut. Sininen ei nähkääs ole naisten väri.
Tämä kukkarunsausongelma koskee jossakin määrin myös kankaita. Välillä on vaikea löytää kivoja kuosikankaitakaan. Suosikkikauppojani ovat kotimaiset Fabriking ja Myrtikki. Harmikseni niistä molemmat ovat alkaneet käyttää tekoälyä kankaita suunnitellessaan. (Taannoin Hesarista tästä sai huomionsa niin ikään kotimainen vaatebrändi Gugguu, jonka kuosiin eksyi viisijalkainen koira...)
Välillä sitä on näiden kanssa jotenkin niin voimaton.
Saa suositella etenkin kotimaisia kangaskauppoja, joissa on muutakin kuin kukkajuttuja!
