Good morning. 😴⏰☕

20 May 2025

Yesterday, we took a walk to Prairie Creek. When we reached the bridge, we crossed—bringing to mind the familiar saying, ‘We’ll cross that bridge when we get to it.’ It’s a bit of a corny joke, but the meaning holds weight. It symbolizes decision points in life, reminding us that even seemingly small choices can lead to significant consequences down the road. I often try to explain this to the young people in my life, emphasizing the importance of making thoughtful decisions. After all, today's choices shape tomorrow’s opportunities. Some have taken this advice to heart, while others have not. But every decision steers the future—a place where "time keeps slippin, slippin, slippin into the future," along with chances that may or may never come.

- "The quality of your life ultimately depends on the quality of your decisions." — Ray Dalio

One thing people might ignore about the #broligarchy & #conservatism today is it’s shoehorning of the fascist impulse of #purity onto technology.

We see this impulse particularly applied to #ai, with calls for #deregulation approaching religious fervour.

We see it in transhumanism, tescrealism, network state, pretty much all of it.

Purity is another way of saying; only our tribe is good enough to reap benefits. But most importantly it is a domain of no #consequences. The holy item of #fascism

« The actor Pedro Pascal has attacked author JK #Rowling on X, calling her a “heinous loser”.
Pascal responded to a comment reporting the words of activist Tariq Ra’ouf in an Instagram video, in which he urged people to #boycott Rowling’s work.
“It has become our mission as the general public to make sure that every single thing that’s Harry Potter related fails … because that awful disgusting shit, that has #consequences.” »

“But speaking of gambling, #gambling is a behaviour where #people don’t think of the #consequences. And what this (#Labor) #government has done is gambled the #taxpayers’ money of Australia”

“We understand that the other side has a good heart, that they want to make #medicines cheaper. But to recklessly, recklessly cut the profits of small business owners, the #pharmacies working extremely hard, some of them have told me they’ve gone down to 30-40%. That gambling-like behaviour is simply not on.” — #ScottYung

Piss off Scotty, leave our Pharma alone.

I just think #TheEconomist is #discrediting itself by #platforming #MAGA #bullshit that even 5th graders can callout as #Kindergarten-esque #mobbing.

It's pretty much absurd to do so without seriously interrogating whether the #Trump regime actually knows the shit it does or whether this is just a #dismantling operation by #AgentKrasnov to enshure #Putin gets what he wants.

Tho in the meantime it only resulted in the #EU coming closer together and #Europe finding resolve against #Russia, with both #NATO and EU becoming stronger than before...

  • Granted the #USA already lost it's credibility in 2012 when Putin invaded #Crimea and the #BudapestMemorandum was violated #consequences-free instead of #BootsOnTheGround by the #US, #UK and #France and the current support for #Kyiv is the absolute bare minimum to avoid the political suicide that are flagged coffins returning home since in #Europe - unlike the USA - going to war isn't guaranteed to get elected, but rather will tank ratings (as it should be)!

Again: #REFORUSA is an act of self- and mutual defense at this point!

Except THIS is not how any of this works!....

#Trump literally lashing out against friends and neighbours will only backfire hard, and I expect @EUCommission and @europarl_en to enact #PrizeFreezes for #US #products & #services whilst forcing #Retaliatory #Tariffs on all US #products and espechally #services, demanding 100%+ in all #fees, and #revenue of #GAFAMs' services and products to the point that they'll effectively cancel half their revenue that flows back.

  • Plus forcing all products and services to be processed and sold via a #EU-based #corporation and adding a 30% "#AlienTax" as the #USA already does for i.e. #App #developers that ain't from the US even if they never sold a single license to a US customer.

Not to mention cancelling any #DataProtection agreements that only stalled the foreseeable court decision that #CloudAct is incompatible with #GDPR, thus banning #Office365 / #Microsoft365, #iCloud et. al. from the EU!

Given #Trump can't be assed to even fake any #loyality or #allied status even for the cameras, this is a #ForeseeableConsequence.

Unless we want to end up #downgraded into the state of a US-occupied overseas possession without statehood, like #Guam, #PuertoRico or #AVI...

We seemingly recognise the threats posed by climate change which will include mass migration (for survival's sake) - but this ‘study' recognises a large number will suffer - and of course it will be the poorer members of our society. Large numbers of poor dispossesed people - I can't wait!
