Tucson Village FarmMidweek Market

I wanted to share this with the people here in Missouri and the Metro East. This is the farm we buy our milk, eggs and 50-60% of our meat from. I'm not going to say buying food here will save you money but you will find a quality superior to most grocery stores. Penguin, our stray cat we took in, will only eat egg yolks from this farm. We've even tried other pasture raised eggs, she won't touch them.

Growing up in the city, buying fruits and vegetables at the supermarket was always the norm for me. When I moved to less central areas almost 20 years ago, I began to appreciate local products, those grown by local farmers.
This morning, on our way back from downtown, we stopped by a farm. This time of year, they have plenty of fresh produce like cherries, melons, etc. We bought two kilograms of cherries and a melon from them. The cherries are almost gone, and so is the melon.
Delicious, flavorful, and fresh fruit, unlike the supermarket produce that is refrigerated early and kept for days, without allowing proper ripening.

Sometimes, humans create unnecessary infrastructures for trivial things: this area is rich in juicy cherries, so why does the supermarket down the street have to sell those that come from hundreds of kilometers away?
