They are Kidnapping Migrants in Federal Buildings

I repeat! ICE is kidnapping migrants coming into EOIR for their court cases. I work in a federal building and was told to carry our PIV cards around everywhere since they are kidnapping migrants.

'They were the doers': Thousands of experts and leaders are fleeing Trump’s government in 'huge loss' for workforce | Washington Post Story

At the National Institutes of Health, six directors — from institutes focused on infectious disease, child health, nursing research and the human genome — are leaving or being forced out.At the Federal Aviation Administration, nearly a dozen top leaders, including the chief air traffic officer, are retiring early. And at the Treasury Department, more than 200 experienced managers and highly skilled technical experts who help run the government’s financial systems chose to accept the Trump administration’s resignation offer earlier this year, according to a staffer and documents obtained by The Washington Post.Across the federal government, a push for early retirement and voluntary separation is fueling a voluntary exodus of experienced, knowledgeable staffers unlike anything in living memory, according to interviews with 18 employees across 10 agencies and records reviewed by The Post. Other leaders with decades of service are being dismissed as the administration eliminates full offices or divisions at a time. The first resignation offer, sent in January, saw 75,000 workers across government agree to quit and keep drawing pay through September, the administration has said. But a second round, rolling out agency by agency through the spring, is seeing a sustained, swelling uptick that will dwarf the first, potentially climbing into the hundreds of thousands, the employees and the records show. The Post could not determine the exact number of second-round resignations, which is tightly held within each agency. But the employees and the records suggest that disproportionately older, more senior and experienced employees are heading for the exit — in part because they fear being fired or having their positions reclassified as political, at-will jobs under a new Trump program, federal workers said in interviews. Others are leaving simply because they are tired of the chaos, mismanagement and poor treatment they say they have faced under the new administration.Jeffrey Grant, a senior official at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, left federal service after 42 years in February because he saw the “writing on the wall,” he said in an interview, as he watched the new administration prepare to fire civil servants. Now, he is noticing many talented colleagues follow in his footsteps, he said, including senior CMS staffers who ran core components of the agency’s strategy and operations. CMS administers more than $1 trillion a year in health insurance, covering over 130 million Americans.“We’re losing some really smart people and really senior people,” Grant said. “Those will be the people that can easily get jobs outside the government … they will disappear, and they may never come back. Maybe they’ll come back under a different administration, but it’s a huge loss for the government.”The scores of departures will have immediate consequences, government employees said, slowing or halting work such as the Food and Drug Administration’s issuance of food safety warnings and the Treasury Department’s disbursement of payments. Other effects will be felt over coming months and years, employees predicted, as agencies lose people representing decades of institutional knowledge — imperiling the quality of work done and services provided.FULL GIFT LINK: wapo.st/43fc1awAre you someone affected by or with knowledge of the Trump administration's overhaul of the federal government? The Mob Style 5% Civil Service Shakedown Is a Decoy—The Real Target Is Grandfathered Feds

Let’s not kid ourselves. The GOP’s batshit proposal to make new federal employees pay an extra 5% of their salary just to keep civil service protections is dead on arrival. It’s so blatantly unconstitutional it’s basically performance art. But here’s the trick: it’s not supposed to hold up. It’s a distraction. A decoy. The real scam is retroactively raising FERS contributions for already-vested employees—aka the “grandfathered” folks who were told their retirement terms were locked in. That’s the endgame. To screw people who’ve been, in some cases paying into FER, 10, 20, 30s years, or since its inception! And here’s the really gross part: this 5% shakedown is designed to make gullible FERS vets think, “Well, this isn’t so bad compared to that.” It’s gaslighting with numbers. “Be grateful we only moved the goalposts on your retirement, and not your entire paycheck.”The 5% surcharge? Courts will probably kill it. But the FERS hike? That might actually stick. Why? Because it’s “just” a contribution increase—not a blatant assault on civil service rights—so it might slither past legal scrutiny while still violating every principle of fair play and good governance. This is how you gut the civil service without the public noticing: bait the outrage, then quietly stab the people who built their lives on a promise.Welcome to the new federal workforce: no protections, no promises, just vibes.

Bloodbath at my National Lab today. Any other National Laboratories experiencing the same?

Welp, last week we were told that they expected to bring on a bunch of contractors to fill in the gaps left by the wave of people running for the door due to RTO. This morning we were staring down a nearly 1B budget cut. The program I was supporting has been devastated (as many as 80% of the people have been cut), and I've got a pink slip. How are other National Lab people doing?

We’re not just numbers, our stories matter.

I don’t know if a thread like this already exists, but it’s time we start one.I recently saw a fellow fed commented that she lost her twins in a miscarriage because of the stress and uncertainty. It’s so heartbreaking. The last few months were very stressful for many of us. We’ve all been impacted differently. We need to tell our stories. If you’re still holding the line:Say how it feels. It’s honorable to stay and fight, but it can be hard and heavy. Are you stretched thin? Exhausted? If you were terminated:Share how it feels to give your all to public service, only to be pushed out without warning. It’s traumatic. If you chose to leave:Tell us what made you walk away from something you once believed in. That grief is real. Even if it was the right choice for you, it can still feel like you let go of a mission you cared about. For me, I was terminated for “poor performance”, which was deeply unfair. My neighbor—an old Trump supporter—saw me crying the day I got terminated. He gave me a hug and said, “They made a mistake. We need people like you in the government.” He didn’t see politics. He saw a person in pain, and he empathizes, and says it’s a mistake. We need to remind the public that we are not just numbers. We are people. With lives, fears, and stories.Whether we’re holding on, healing, or letting go—we matter. And so does our story.

As of yesterday morning, our union has been dissolved

they told us yesterday that officially our union is no longer recognized by the Department and that all of our existing union agreements are “null and void.”i am thankful to be at my agency where the director has said none of the existing local agreements will go out the window immediately, however i have no doubt they will move to change former-union policies when it becomes convenient or clear that it is permanenti feel so extremely demoralized. my job series is one that deals with the gender policy changing as well and that has been weighing on me heavily.

Here is the human toll of this inhuman behavior

My partner was one of the ‘lucky’ ones in HHS and sent this out on our family chat:“It was a massacre today at HHS. I survived but many didn’t. I am devastated, we all are reeling from the loss of so many good people we worked with, knew and relied on. We lost entire divisions. We cried and huddled and tried to support each other but with little success. We, as in FDA, will not be able to protect public health. Period. I am sorry.”I’m gutted for EVERYONE who didn’t deserve this and I just want to rage….Edit: realized I made it about her when it needs to be about everyone.

Massacre at ACF today. Regions 1,2,5,9, and 10 are gone. Just gone. Entire programs, divisions, and teams eliminated from HQ. ACF serves the most vulnerable children in the country, this is CATASTROPHIC. Media needs to step up and cover this. Children and families WILL suffer.

RIF’d Today. I’m numb………………..

This is surreal. Years of service obliterated by evil people who are absolutely clueless how the government really works. I took a 20K pay cut to work for the government after getting tired of being laid off in the private sector again and again. I don’t know whether to take the severance or retire ugh. I can’t even think straight. I’ll look at all the documents attached to the email I received today, tomorrow. I really wish this was an April fools joke. 😢

I was on a call with appointees on Friday. They're laughing about the layoffs.

One made a crack about the Department of Education having plenty of money now. The second, talking to/about HHS said "Run it by your comms team next week, if you have a comms team next week.". Literally laughing at the destruction they are causing. Fuck these people.

Has the hate always been there?

So my dad was a USPS employee for my entire life. And I realize they are a bit different in the usual federal employee but because of him I always thought federal employment was important work. I also had a couple of relatives who worked on different federal fields and they weren’t rich but were comfortable and never seemed to be hated. Now I feel admitting being a federal employee .. especially to my agency seems to open me up to be hated.I just saw tonight someone saying they worked 60+ hours as a federal employee in a post .. and saw a reply saying “well since most of your colleagues work 20 hours …..”. I know no one who only works 20 hours on my team .. even people who I know have FMLA leave and possibly could if needed. Is there lazy people. Sure. But I worked in the private sector for many years as well and there are plenty of lazy people everywhere. But I’ve never seen harder workers or more passionate workers since moving to federal. I just don’t understand the hate. Edit: Just want to say to this day my dad was the hardest working man I’ve ever known. His minimum week was 6 10 hour days. .. during busy parts of the year it was 7 12 hour days. .. which of course was the most the government would allow. But he took every hour they offered… until he couldn’t anymore. There was not a lazy bone in this man’s body and it pisses me off when people offer otherwise.

Just when I thought they couldn't be crueler.

We had our weekly division meeting today and my boss started talking about the upcoming RIFs. I've already been told I am being RIFd; just waiting for the axe to fall. But I digress. Boss lady surprises one of my coworkers who was originally told he will be RIFed that they have "found" a critical position for him to move into, and he is safe. Cheers all around as they celebrate not being on the RIF list, and I was left sitting there holding back tears while trying my best to keep a smile on my face. I'm not jealous, I'm just hurt. They could have saved that for when I wasn't present, at least I feel that would be the kind thing to do.
