Reasons why I'm a #fedoralinux addict

- First class Flatpak, podman and toolbox/distrobox support keeping my base system clean
- Secure boot/Kernel Lockdown preconfigured so I can get HSI 2 with minimal effort, just add
intel_iommu=on kernel parameter (at least on an Intel Comet Lake system)
- akmods never fails to amaze me, with both working kernel modules and secure boot signing in case I need to use an NVIDIA hardware such as my gaming laptop
- SELinux ready to use with strict defaults
- Firewalld is already there waiting for me to play with

Atomic variants section
- being atomic makes it harder for malware to mess up my critical system files
-
rpm-ostree reset feels so satisfying when I see bloat getting eliminated after layering stuff
- I can rebase to another DE (e.g. from Kinoite to Silverblue) or to a newly released beta without a second thought because I find it stable enough most of the time and if it ever breaks I can simply rollback or rebase back to older release if needed

📦 Fedora Linux 43 to Feature RPM 6
—Linuxiac

「 What do users get out of this? One word- security. RPM 6 comes with signature checking turned on by default, ensuring that only positively verified packages can be installed. In other words, users will no longer be able to install unsigned or tampered packages without explicitly choosing to override the system’s security measures 」

We're looking to replace Mrs Wife's laptop. The current machine is from #Entroware, which I think is a Clevo reseller; the machine is okay for what it is, and Entroware's service has been excellent.

I'll be installing #FedoraLinux on whatever machine we buy. I'd rather not pay for a #MicrosoftWindows licence we don't need; I prefer to support FOSS.

Does anyone in the UK have recent experience of buying a #LinuxLaptop? Are there any companies we should prefer or avoid?
