Happy #footpathFriday! This one's special, it's another photo taken in Machu Picchu, on the ancient Inca steps leading up to Huayna Picchu! Watching my friend hike these centuries-old stairs really puts things in perspective. It's a time machine carved in stone!

Stepping into Machu Picchu hits different when you're right there in the terraces, not just viewing it from the classic postcard spot. From this angle, you really feel the depth of Inca engineering. In the background, Huayna Picchu is standing like a guardian.

Ancient Inca engineering at its finest: the agricultural terraces of Huchuy Qosqo (Kakya Qawani), like a giant stone staircase in the mountain. Each level required precise stonework. While terracing is common in the Sacred Valley, their scales and precisions remind us of the immense effort required to build them.

We started the day on Peru rail then launched on the #IncaTrail through the house of the Sun on in to #MachuPichu. Llamas bear nice wool and even better weather forecasts. Raul with Day Hikes Peru leads an unforgettable tour.

You are right #MachuPicchu is a magical place and to get there on foot via the #IncaTrail is absolutely life changing and to have been able to do that in my mid 60's was miraculous.
