Last year we launched the Stockton Historical Society Inc Digital Archives. We did an online event to showcase the new site. We didn’t record due to privacy, so I’ve re-recorded the presentation. So if you’re interested in setting up an online archive for a small #GLAM institution, give it a watch!

It’s built using #Omeka Classic on Omeka.net

After 2 years of work we’ve offically luanched this site. I accessioned, arranged, processed, and described just over 20 collections. I then benchmarked, selected (#Omeka) and set up an online repository of these collections, which I also did all the digitisation for.

It’s been a lot of work. Next major milestone is ingest into Trove. It’s been a lot of work and I’m really proud of it.

An #Introduction redux for new people! May you find what you're looking for here. I have! Hcommons.social rocks.

Firstly, I'm a Postdoc at UCC #English and #DigitalHumanities. I work on @PortsPastPres, an #EU regional development project funded by the #Ireland #Wales Cooperation Programme. We're @PortsPastPres on the ailing #Birdsite.

I particularly work on our #Omeka / #Curatescape heritage stories: portspastpresent.eu/items/brow and our #App Port Places: portspastpresent.eu/exhibits/s. The project is ending this month, and I'll have more projects and news about what I'm doing next to come.

My main areas of interest are #EnvironmentalHumanities, #PublicHumanities, #DigitalHumanities and #OA. My :hc: profile is: hcommons.org/members/scrivener, where you can read more about my publications.

I'm an occasional #TTRPG writer. You can see what I've written here: jameslouissmith.com/tours/show. A couple more things forthcoming.

Ports, Past and PresentAll Stories | Ports, Past and PresentPorts, Past and Present is a joint initiative with University College Cork (UCC) and Wexford County Council in Ireland, and in Wales with Aberystwyth University and the Centre for Advanced Welsh and Celtic Studies at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David. The project is part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund through the Ireland Wales Cooperation programme and is led by UCC.

So #DigitalHumanities and #Omeka people. If I wanted to export and convert e.g. an xml or JSON of an item from Classic into a human readable e.g. .odt doc for archiving, what should I do?

I basically want to combine something that's easy for users to copy and paste from with no tabular data knowledge with a perma.cc version of each item in a repository, coupled with a single .csv with all the Dublin core metadata in it for those wishing to import (and a howto) @dh

Thank you for forwarding to your colleagues! They can DM me if they are on Mastodon. I will also DM you the emails for the outreach team.

Another option is to post on our forums--users typically post troubleshooting or features requests, but an #Omeka #Tropy integration use case would be welcome:

#histodons is there anyone out there using #tropy and #omeka at the same time?

If so, the Tropy team would like to hear your experience.

Oh by the way...did you know Tropy has a plugin that makes it very easy to export your Tropy project items to Omeka S?
