It's a big year for radical social centres in England.

This year marks the 44th anniversary of Bradford’s ‘1 in 12 club’, the 30th anniversary of Bristol’s BASE, and the 24th year of Nottingham's #SumacCentre, home of Veggies!

The 1 in 12 are running a series of events in June to celebrate.

Meanwhile, this Bristol Cable article features 30 years of The Base.

Arrived in London for another day at the #Spycops inquiry. On the short walk from St Pancras I found where Robert Owen "the father of the #cooperative movement" lived, 1832 - 1840

His philosophy sought to use utopian socialist ideals to create a society with no private property, no poverty, and no ignorance

A leader in trade unionism, he promoted social equality through his experimental Utopian communities, and supported child labour laws and free education for children
