AaronThe key mechanism that enables wealth extraction by a company is that shareholders represent a privileged subset of the community, to whom all profits go. If shareholders instead consisted of the entire community, with equal shares, any profits are returned to the entire community instead of concentrated into the hands of a privileged few. This model is called a cooperative. They already exist. There is a good chance you are a member of at least one, without even realizing it. AaronWe don't just need to stop fascism in its tracks. We need to kill the problem at its root. No more billionaires! When we rise from the ashes and re-establish a democracy -- hopefully with some improvements to keep this from ever happening again -- we must be sure to close the loophole that created this mess: No more for-profit corporations.Cooperatives can do the job that for-profit corporations have done for us till now, without the wealth inequality that for-profit corporations create. We don't need capitalism. We don't need stocks or stock markets. We damn sure don't need billionaires.
