Apparently rebooting fixes the discrepancy between reported versions. Who'd have thunk? 
#FreeBSD has breathed new life into this ancient #laptop. Switched from #twm to #openbox and surfing the #web with #elinks.
Admittedly I did cheat and replace the 5,400 RPM hard drive with a 1TB SSD. I'm not masochistic enough for that, particularly when I had something exponentially better on hand.

It has been a while since I used #vnc. But... take a lookat the vncsession man page.
If I recall it correctly you specify the session globally in /etc/<your>vnc/<server_config>
For the your user in ~/.vnc/config
session = ...
or create a ~/.vnc/xstartup script.
vnc used to work with #twm by default, so you could also try to install twm as see if get a twm session.

Το καινούριο μου colourscheme + config. urxvt με vim, gvim, xterm με moc player, και φυσικά όλα αυτά στο πιο ωραίο, σέξυ, στυλάτο, γρήγορο και καταπληκτικό wm εβερ! (στο 2ο σκριν το υπέροχό wallpaper μου
