A series of triple compartment slip-in boxes with lids for a new edition of artist books made by @annesas.

Each is made to hold a collection of three pairs of books. The books protrude at the front, which makes it easy to take them out and slip them back in. The title and the name of the artist are embossed blind on the side of the lid.

The boxes are covered and lined with grey Toile du Marais.

Bart Lunenburg


In the series of wall sculptures Warding Window (2023-24), Bart Lunenburg explores the design and characteristics of window shutters found in the Eastern part of The Netherlands. Their colours and compositions referred to the heraldic weapons of the local landowners and served as a symbol of feudal ownership. In the series, he deconstructs historic shutter designs and rearranges them into new rhythmic compositions, a similar method to making a quilt or a patchwork. Once the farmhouse owner changed — due to marriage, war, or succession — the window shutters were painted over with new colours and designs.

Recently, I made a box for the Association of Dutch Designers @bno_nl, as a retirement gift for a colleague. She received such an overwhelmingly amount of retirement cards, that we decided to make an additional one.

The box is covered with cream natural linen from Van Heek textiles and lined with pink Toile du Marais from Winter Company.

Kuno Grommers

While they can be mistaken for abstract compositions, Kuno Grommers’ works feature an actual space, his studio, whose walls have been entirely painted. Weeks of careful arrangement are condensed into a single photograph, in which two-dimensionality and three-dimensionality intertwine. The actual space is deconstructed into a flat image, where the illusion of depth is sometimes recreated. The trompe-l’oeil works so perfectly that the straight edges of the studio seamlessly blend into any shape. At times, the cube turns into a curved composition. Squaring the circle, sphering the cube?
