My 5-year old Lenovo L14 is starting to seriously cracking at the bezel (the frame which holds the screen) after having been slightly cracking for a while. I can't find any guides on @iFixit to repair or replace it. Anyone out there who knows how difficult this is? I'm a total beginner so I just want to get an idea of how complicated it might be. It's likely I'll end up getting a new (used) laptop again, but I wish I could extend the life-span. #RepairCafe #IFixit #Lenovo

So I broke my samsung cover keyboard and trying to find a replacement part for the three dots connector that enables the keyboard and the galaxy S tab to communicate.

It looks kinda bad and does not click into place anymore because the connectors are roughed up.

Does this replacement part exist, or is this keyboard basically E-waste now? (Not under warranty).

@GrapheneOS the very well known and famous IT privacy specialist in Germany, Mike Kuketz, has investigated all the various OSss. Also /e/OS.

Better to read his findings which are more fact based than the #ifixit article which is often misleading, sometimes plain wrong.

My finished #DIY #solderfumeextractor.
The fumes are sucked in and pushed out through the flexible tubing which I hang out of my window.
It's powered by USB-C (12V) and can handily be plugged into my @iFixit #FixHub's second USB-C output as I've integrated a USB-PD trigger board.
The project is made from the packaging my FixHub came in - that's what I call #upcycling ;)

For anyone who buys a #Pinecil and thinks, you know what, for a few extra bucks a clear case for this thing will look cool - you'll want this teardown from #iFixit: ifixit.com/Teardown/Pinecil+V2

The official instructions (wiki.pine64.org/images/0/01/Pi) do not actually explain how to snap the case apart, but the iFixit guide suggests levering the halves apart by sticking a small screwdriver into the soldering tip hole.

Practice snapping the new shell open first, to get an idea for how it should feel.

🗣️ REPAIRABILITY SHOULD BE A RIGHT

“The online repair site goes so far as to call the Pro 2 a “piss-poor excuse for a controller” for several different reasons. Opening the controller requires you to first forcefully remove a faceplate held in place by adhesive tape before a single screw is visible. But you’ll need to extract several other parts and components, including the controller’s mainboard, before its battery is even accessible.”

The glass display panel had been adhered to the back panel with a thin, foam adhesive tape. Nothing else at all, no bezel or screws. To open the TV, I'd cut through it with one of the blue #iFixit guitar picks. I don't have any of the original tape on hand, so instead I went with a temporary-but-functional solution: blue painter's tape. Not my proudest fix, but I'll take it.

Because it all works!

The HMD Fusion is full of possibilities.

It can be a barcode scanner, mobile gaming console, workhorse, or minimalist daily driver; just by swapping the back. And if HMD hasn’t made the outfit you need? They provide the resources to make your own. This is what mass customization looks like!

Add in an IP54 rating, easily repairable design, and a starting price under $300? Yeah. We’re impressed.

The Galaxy S25 Edge is thinner than a pencil and almost as durable. Samsung pulled off some clever engineering to cram flagship specs into this wafer-thin casing. But at what cost?

Thermal throttling?
Battery exposed to long-term heat stress?
Adhesive-heavy display removal?

Despite a win on battery and port repair, this phone is a mixed bag. The Edge looks sharp, but if you’re planning to keep it for the long haul, you might feel the heat.

Can we get a big Texas yeehaw?!
The Lone Star State just signed the seventh state Right to Repair law for electronics. It’s also the first electronics repair law to pass in a state led by a Republican, but we’re only surprised it took this long.

We’ve always seen broad bipartisan support for these bills. Repair isn’t red or blue. It’s just common sense.
