Hi everyone! I Got registered for Phlebotomy/Venipuncture school the other day and since my schedule is so full I'm trying to get as much practice as I can in before I go. I've made tons of flash cards, I'm reading the textbook already, and I have a friend who is willing to let me practice on them (They'll also be practicing on me). Unfortunately I'm lacking some of the supplies to do that with atm, if anyone could throw in so I could get a bunch of butterfly needles, collection tubes, and a couple tourniquets I'd be really grateful and I'll keep you updated on my blood drawing adventures :)

The ever-so-young #nurse sticking #needles in me for #blood yesterday was a baby #goth. Dyed black hair, #black #scrubs, big black #glasses, lots of empty #piercings holes in her face. Cute, and kind, and distressed about me being a hard stick.

"I don't want to hurt you!" she wailed as she poked around for my vein the third time.

"It's all right. You know, some people do this for fun," I said soothingly.

Her, instantly, making it clear that she did indeed know: "Yes, but I'm not one of them!"

@helga_j I work in a #culturalHeritage centre in Alsace, France, where we organise an international Festival for #CrossStitch & #Embroidery. Therefore, I'm surprised about this "British version" he writes about.
#Archeology of embroidery is difficult because the material decays. The oldest #needles for stitching were found in Africa, Sibudu Cave, from 59,000 BCE, and in Siberia in the Denisova Cave, from 50,000 BCE. So needlework was already known with the Denisovans.
