“The data we obtain now from rocks like Kenmore will help future missions so they don’t have to think about weird, uncooperative rocks. Instead, they’ll have a much better idea whether you can easily drive over it, […] or if it would be suitable to use as construction material for a habitat.”, said Ken Farley.

Well, I guess the latter 😀 😎

By the way, that post, nasa.gov/missions/mars-2020-pe, is one of the best posts in recent times by the #Perseverance team, IMO.

When we say gDRT "puffed" a rock, this (video) is what we mean:

More on that, and on what #Perseverance was doing to rock Kenmore, in a new post by its team:

Notes:
• The name of the AutoNav software reappears alone in this post, where in some previous ones the shitty term "AI" had been used.
• The rover set a new record of autonomous driving (411m) on Sol 1540.

An exciting find at Krokodillen: phyllosilicates

These minerals primarily form by extensive interactions between basaltic rocks and liquid water. They are excellent at preserving organic materials, if present, by adsorbing them or encapsulating them within their mineral structure.

#Perseverance is revisiting a location it drove through 40 sols ago. The annotations give an idea about where the rover has been during this period.

New site, RMC 76.000. Localization is approximate.

Whatever it is that #Perseverance is looking for there, it won't have much luck getting a sample from, me thinks. Maybe not even a decent abrasion. But a bad abrasion with a similar black vein in it, like the last one, would be quite a finding.

#Perseverance went back to where it was on Sol 1502. Something is going on there…

Here is a closer map and a leveled NAVCAM mosaic:
