In my opinion, Glasgow's streetscape is much poorer and less distinctive because of it. Would it really cost developers that much more to include a feature corner on new buildings? Maybe it's something that the city planners should start insisting on to help maintain the city's distinctive feel. Or maybe it's just me that feels this way.
One of my favourite characteristics of Glasgow's traditional architecture is the prominance given to corners, where architects often used major features, such as corner towers, turrets, and cupolas, to mark them. It's something you can see across the city, such as on the right here in Govan. However, it's something you rarely see on newer developments, such as the one on the left.

It's some fifty feet in the air, is very exposed to the environment (particularly the howling gales and driving rain that are not exactly uncommon in Scotland), and took about 50 years to complete.
