Emergency power is back after ~30 hours of downtime. Avalanche risk is still 5/5 and several have come down near Zermatt. One of the hotel staff was woken up by one coming at her house!

Some people had two cold nights but we’ve been warm and had a decent stock of food. Supermarkets got picked clean but we had stocked up before the trouble.

Partner does not function without tea so whilst we were sitting around doing nothing I made some using tea lights and a beer bottle. #Zermatt

Shelves picked bare in Migros Zermatt after it briefly reopened amidst the general power outages and snow storm.

#ZerMatt Day 3 and after a ride on the TER Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes train to Évian-les-Bains it’s back to Switzerland on the CGN boat across to Lausanne! May as well sit out the back instead of sitting indoors. Everyone is so well wrapped up and here’s me in a t shirt, jeans and overcoat… No wonder people are looking at me like I’m some sort of oddity :blobcat_amused:

Une escadrille de soucoupes volantes était venue stationner autour de la montagne. Elles attendaient manifestement un évènement, un signal que leur donnerait la montagne. Il n’en fût rien et, frustrées elles abandonnèrent leur siège inutile.

A squadron of flying saucers had come to hover around the mountain. They were obviously waiting for an event, a signal from the mountain. But nothing happened, and in frustration they abandoned their useless seat.

Le peintre venait de prendre sa pause. On sentait qu’il ne savait pas par où commencer, qu’il avait du mal à finir ce qu’il avait entrepris, laissant en plan les nuages et sommets qu’il devait peindre en rose.

Le jour pointait le bout de son nez, éclairant tour à tour les nuages puis les sommets, avant de les embraser délicatement. Cependant, la lune peinait à s’en aller, tant elle aimait à voir ce spectacle.

La partie haute de la montagne est quelques autres sommets sembles éclairés, sans doute par la lune, le reste du paysage est dans le noir à l'exception des eaux du lac qui reflètent le ciel étoilé. Il y a quelques nuages dans le ciel, mais qui n'altèrent pas l'impression de beau temps. Sur une montagne à gauche on voit une lumière qui brille fortement, sans doute une gare de téléphérique.
