Risultato: zero conseguenze.

Attenzione a chi vuole tenerti ignorante.

In 2010, #AaronSwartz downloaded 70 GB of articles from JSTOR. He faced a $1 million fine and 35 years in prison
➡️ Aaron took his own life in 2013.

#Meta illegally downloaded over 80 terabytes of books from LibGen, Anna's Archive, and Z-library to train its #AI models
➡️ facing no consequences.

Information is power, knowledge is power.

Beware and fight against those who want to keep you ignorant, unaware, and misinformed.

Court documents show not only did Meta torrent terabytes of pirated books to train AI models, employees wouldn't stop emailing each other about it: 'Torrenting from a corporate laptop doesn't feel right'

The world increasingly needs #AaronSwartz's discourse.

How uplifting seeing the name Aaron Swartz in my feed so much lately & then this article, filled with the names of wonderful organizations such as: Internet Archive, Electronic Frontier Foundation, & Creative Commons popped into my feed today! Keep the ball rolling! Opt-out of the surveillance capitalist culture war for-profit cesspool. My #Ethics of #Business and #Technology course begins with this contrast between #AaronSwartz’s subscription-mediated article downloading and #OpenAI’s larger scale, unpaid #webscraping (byrdnick.com/teaching#ethicsof).

Even though some students have heard of #Reddit, few (if any) have heard of Aaron. As soon as they watch the trailer for “The Internet’s Own Boy” (youtu.be/2M0GQww1GoY?feature=s), they immediately become interested, do the more technical reading, return to class excited for discussion, and write plenty on their team-based worksheets. They clearly find the contrast between Aaron and corporateAI provocative! If ever there was a way to make young people care about #tech #crime, Aaron's case may be it.

Thanks for alerting us about the latest case of mass copyright infringement from likes of #Meta, @rcx!

Enfim, a pirata... ops, hipocrisia.

"The magnitude of Meta’s unlawful torrenting scheme is astonishing"

#AaronSwartz

‘more and more critics are coming to understand that LOCK-IN is the root of the problem, and that ANTI-LOCK-IN measures like interoperability can address it.’

@pluralistic seems on 🔥 recently.

I guess this is a position #AaronSwartz would have agreed to - because it cultivates empathy with those that are still too afraid to walk over those shaky bridges … yet.
