Altamira – a Mastodon companion app
Whenever I participated on social media platforms in the past, key functionality seemed to be unavailable. In some cases, functionality I consider to be important just might not be that useful for most other people - but in other cases, functionality that is useful would actually be detrimental to some bottom line the company considers more important than its users, and thus doesn't get implemented. As just one example, I consider it to be useful for the accounts I follow, as well as those that follow me, to be checked for their activity regularly, and unfollowed automatically if they are indeed inactive - because talking into a void just isn't fun. Follower counts are an important metric for influencer-type people and the platforms that want to attract and host them, which likely is why, as far as I am aware, none of the commercial platforms offer this functionality. A deliberate practice app for guitar players who want to level up
I’m probably one of the few that advocates for 100% Code Coverage.
There may be some justifiable exceptions, but overall it’s just a good practice to avoid something that doesn’t work as expected.
Vibe Coding for Emotional Resonance (AI-Assisted App Development) 2of2:
The resulting website was generated in under 10 minutes, with both desktop and mobile previews. This demonstrates the potential for rapid prototyping and mock-up creation. You can check it out here: https://pastel-hearts-lifting.lovable.app/
Key Takeaways
1. AI as a Prototyping Accelerator: AI tools can significantly expedite the initial stages of app development, enabling rapid iteration and visualization.
2. Vibe Coding as a Design Principle: Communicating the desired emotional tone to AI can influence the design output, highlighting the importance of emotional intelligence in AI-driven development.
3. Accessibility as a Core Consideration: Even with AI assistance, human oversight is essential to ensure accessibility standards are met.
While this is a work in progress, this experiment underscores the potential of AI to augment the design process.
What do you think of the evolving role of AI in UX/UI design?
You want a crazy idea? Add an "__outScope" built-in method for classes.
It will run when the scope of the variable that holds the class instance ends.
Imagine the possibilities.
This goes to all application developers whose app shows a loading screen with "Fetching account info..." or "Getting things ready..." or similar:
What exactly is your app doing? Serious question.

Starting to learn ReactNative... Really not sure what I want to test build. I'm not good at backend (hopefully I will get better as I try little bits over time), Would an information app or something be good to create?
Like what is helpful and within my skill set... Guess I'll just have to work things out

It looks promising (for latency reasons), yet #MeiliSearch and #TypeSense feel more feature complete, especially if you need something compatible with the #Algolia API.
Cold truth:
“Perfecting your app’s UI is useless if it’s not intuitive. Usability always beats beauty.”
