Fully understand your position. Likewise, I am reluctant (for a number of reasons) to fully jump ship. What I object to is the ‘gatekeeping’ policies of the commercial offerings which allows them to dictate what I do on and how I use my (paid for hardware ownership) computer, hallmark of ‘enshitification’.
