I haven’t fished since mid-June for some reasons including the heat, too hot for trout, which I enjoy the most 😉 Also, as a Japanese, I follow the tradition of not fishing during Obon (Aug 13–16). I guess I will be back to fishing on Aug 17 😉 Until then, I will just enjoy biking and beer 🍻

I increased my Eddington number (km) today! Today I rode about 110 km, and did the same two weeks ago, and with those rides, my Eddington number (km) has now increased from 102 to ... 103. The last time it changed was 2016! What's an Eddington number? I wrote a little about them on my blog: madandmoonly.com/hhh/2024/12/e

I'll need another eleven rides of at least 104 km to get the number up to 104.

My Eddington number (miles) stays at 68. I'll need another six rides of at least 69 miles to get it to 69.

I'd love to hear your Eddington number story!

Update two weeks after my surgery.

First strength workout with Fitness+ after my fractured femur due to a bike accident.

I sit in a chair to avoid putting too much weight on my fractured leg. I started with 10 minutes today.

This type of exercise will benefit both the body and the mind. Happiness can be small things!

Mastodon made me do it: Inspired by @jerzone and @LillyHerself mentioning him the other day, this afternoon I rode out looking for a couple of Andrew Goldworthy's pieces from his 20+ year old Sheepfolds project. The published grid references were a nonsense, but the old map made sense and managed to find them.
One was, I imagine, pretty much as built, but nature had rather taken over the other. #cumbria #sculpture #cycling

A large part today's route was along the historical TT route. This is a route for tourists which closely follows the route which the Assen TT used to take. We also cycled a few dozen extra km. The motorcycle race moved onto a special track many years ago, but there are signs in the countryside which show the original route through the countryside for cars, motorcyclists and cyclists. We've all lived in the area for many years but none of us had actually followed this route before.

Recumbent cyclists overtaking other recumbent cyclists on a rural cycle-path. Those side by side "duofiets" can be hired inexpensively at many places. My partner hired one to go on a ride with our elderly neighbour last week. The view around the corner was better than you'd think from this photo. Otherwise we'd have held back.
Riding along a country road. There's a TT route sign attached to a pole by the road. This is actually the style of sign used for the motorcycle route, which runs in the opposite direction from the official cycling route. For us it didn't make much difference which we followed.
