Today in Jesus fucking Christ I hope your house burns to the ground:

The housed residents around this encampment apparently came up with a suggestion to CUT DOWN ALL THE TREES in this park so that the unhoused people had no shade and would have to leave.

Up early doing #CommunityDefence which doesn't involve arson.

Edited because voice-text and too tired to proofread. Expect some very specific ranting later today.

Got up way too early this morning because yesterday Toronto Police Service thought it would be hilarious to, hmm joke? I guess they thought it was funny, that they were coming to clear a park of unhoused residents this morning, despite the official paperwork saying Monday.

When they tell you that "the cruelty is the point," this is what they mean.
They want to burn you out and make it impossible for you to continue resisting the brutality of the state.

So now I'm going eat strawberries, garden, and put my soul back together after an incredibly long day yesterday.

As we rapidly approach a violent war against fascism and climate disaster, the liberal Democrats are pushing to ban body armor for civilians (besides cops of course). Why? Because they are on the side of the fascists and always have been, and they want you to be easy to kill.

We know their priorities, We know their allegiance, We know their goals.

Vote with your bullets.

As the police increasingly work with the Gestapo, it becomes less important to differentiate between them, and more important to run every time you see a pig and shoot back when you're shot at.

If you see the Gestapo kidnapping your neighbors, your comrades, or even a random stranger consider how you would want your community to react. Would you prefer they stand idly by with their camera and watch you get dragged off the the death camps, or would you like them to intervene?

I need a clone.

I have been up to a LOT of behind the scenes planning work, "day job" work, and the usual community defence tasks.

It's the first in the list that is making me feel stretched so thin. I love the last bit the most, as it is what make me feel fulfilled. Like: last night was Street Knit and I got to stock up on supplies to distribute to people who are cold and in need.

Migrating to the Movement Offence Committee has shifted my "duties" to an interesting mix of spending more time in cop shops being told that cops don't want to speak to me (I thought McCormick was going to have an aneurysm when I corrected his understanding of the law) and doing/creating different trainings.

Doing an Encampment Support training shortly, which seems timely given the clearing of the camp at Clarence Square a couple of days ago. In the winter.

But hey, shitlibs "got their park back".

Anyway, that's where I have been these past few weeks.

👕👖🧣🧤

If you have GENTLY-USED goods that could still be cherished by someone who needs, feel free to bring it by the
👖👕 Leave an Item, Take an Item🧣🧤 table at Wednesday night's Community Food Distro event.

Please make sure all donations are WASHED and READY TO USE.

Please be thoughtful and honest with yourself before bringing items down. We will decline unsuitable donations; this is NOT an opportunity to dispose of garbage.

We will also have new, hand knit gear from Street Knit; outdoor sleeping supplies from the York and UofT camps; and more.

Feel free to stop by to see what we have and/or pass this info along to people who could benefit.

Losing the roof over your head could reduce your lifespan by 17 years.

That’s the takeaway from a new study published Friday, which warns that the gap between life expectancies for housed versus homeless Torontonians has only been growing, and is especially pronounced for younger generations.

It’s a gap that persists even after accounting for the outsized toll of substance use and other mental health-related challenges within the city’s homeless population, said researcher Lucie Richard with Unity Health’s MAP Centre for Urban Health Solutions.

Meanwhile, City workers like Belinda Batista, whose job is displacing the unhoused with no actual solutions, live well on the sunshine list for facilitating death. Not an exaggeration.

Homeless neighbors took this video of people threatening them in a park. They have never had contact with these guys before and this interaction was unprovoked. If you recognize any of these two men making threats please DM their name or any information you may have. Just because the city and the courts don't care about homeless people doesn't mean no one will stand up for them.

We protect us.

When you remind yourself during an LO training that respectability politics is one of the privileges you have that can be used for #CommunityDefence so you pull out a dry cleaner bag that hasn't been opened in YEARS, and in the pocket is a ring you assumed was lost to the world pre-covid beginning.

Kudos to the dry cleaning personnel who just put it back in the right jacket. Not-kudos to me for not checking pockets before dropping shit off.

Also, have my Purim noisemaker for today's action.

Doing a fair amount of community defence trainings in the next while.

May as well put it out there that I am willing to do sessions:

• unofficial mix of Know Your Rights (KYR)/Basics of Cop Watch;

• official MDC KYR; and

• official MDC Legal Observing

and, of course LO Coordinator training for those who have taken the LO session and come out to at least 5 actions.

Canadian law only.

While it's great when an org has a budget and can pay me (like tomorrow), I also do trainings gratis, because:

We keep us safe.

And the more we know, the safer we are.

Housing for everyone

No More Homeless Evictions
unhousedliberation.ca/support

Chris Moise is allowing residents at the Trinity Square encampment to be threatened by eviction as a way to intimidate them into leaving their homes & their community.

We are demanding that Councillor moise publicly rescind the trespass notices & promise that residents can stay until they're given the housing they deserve.

We are also calling on the Mayor & all members of City Council to put a moratorium in place on all evictions, including encampment clearings & service restrictions from shelters & hotels.
