I wanted to be able to control my AIR machine from my G4 but installing Timbuktu 4 breaks Apple Internet Router! (Removing the Extension fixed it at least)
Does anyone else have a solution that works on an 040? I’ve seen some “rackintosh”es out there, what are you guys doing?
One thing I have in mind is keeping it simple enough to make a series of videos for next #MARCHintosh using it to introduce the very basics Classic Mac OS Toolbox C programming with some examples of adding buttons to windows that play sounds or show dialogs, and then opening up a Projector (version control system) database (repository) on #GlobalTalk for anyone else to add stuff in a collaborative project.
This weekend I made a lot of progress on my Classic Mac OS app template in C!
I have ideas for tools I want to make (mainly for #GlobalTalk), but i need a foundation to build on. AIRConfig was built on of some very basic sample code included with MPW and really not suitable for extending even as far as AIRConfig went.
There are also full-blown frameworks like MacApp and PowerPlant, but they seem like quite a lot of complexity to learn just for small tools.
Okay, it's super hacky-janky, but I've got it set up a HyperCard stack so that you can remotely grab a live image of what's happening in front of the oldsk00l QuickCam. #GlobalTalk
A pair of neat #AppleTalk posters are up on Mercari, a shame they want $70 each(!!) for them
@mike
I may be interested if no one else wants it? I'm in Adelaide
and have a LC, SE FDHD, and a mac plus I'd like to network together for next years Marchintosh
So I can officially declare I failed to join #GlobalTalk again this year
There are just too many cool things to try out in this world. One day , one day…
netatalk provides a `getzones` command as well as a `macusers` command. This comes in handy for monitoring the #GlobalTalk network and AFP users in the tmux status bar.
Many thanks to NJRoadFan and @dmark for investigating and merging a fix to the Netatalk issue I filed where StuffIt Expander causes disconnects with AppleShare 3.7.x.
Turns out that you can install a later version of AppleShare that does not send malformed data to the server, but it's great to see a workaround since affected versions of AppleShare are included with Mac OS 8 and 8.1.
It’s great to see a steady stream of commits to netatalk!
the interior of the cisco 2500 series is particularly interesting as it’s full of 90s era hardware. those are two 8mb and one 16mb 72-pin simms
rarely mentioned is the cpu that powers this little mighty mite: a motorola mc68ec030 - a 25 mhz embedded variant of the mc68030 cpu in a preponderance of macintosh 68k systems in the 90s.
this router is effectively more powerful than my mac LC 475
i picked this particular router for one reason: it supports AppleTalk right out of the box!
Thanks everybody for a great #MARCHintosh and #GlobalTalk activity month! I had lot's of fun! Sadly could not keep up the last week because of work. Big thanks to everybody who sent stuff to my printer and dropbox. It means a lot. Special shoutout to @kalleboo for the scavenger hunt! Definitely one of the highlights this year. Also thanks to everybody who tuned in to my QuickTime Conferencing video broadcast. Can't see in the application who did but a lot of traffic was routed. Cool!
The official end of #MARCHintosh at #WOzFest HQ #GlobalTalk Print Shop was marked by this poignant print from @kalleboo, sent 20 minutes before the end of March, Anywhere on Earth.
While March is officially over, #GlobalTalk lives on, even during its relative 11 month hibernation between MARCHintoshes.
Adding some screenshots to this thread for posterity,
First we have #GlobalTalk Chat which saw a redesign this year. I am unreasonably happy with how the sad "Disconnect" icon turned out!
