Sitting finally with a cuppa, following a long day of wire fishing. Today was further work on alarm system bits. Also got Ethernet to front door for doorbell cam (PoE).
Using same unit I installed in prev house last year (#Reolink). I was pretty happy with it. It works well with #homeAssistant, and keeps working if you block its access to the cloud.
Lots of convoluted arm-in-wall wire routing trying to minimize wall holes and the dreaded installer crime of wires-on-baseboards.
The Good: I got my finnicky #Reolink IP cameras working with #Frigate on a #RaspberryPi 5!
The Bad: I found out that #Broadcom kneecapped the Raspberry Pi 5 by removing hardware H264/H265 transcoding.

Slowly making my way from #frigate to taking advantage of the native #reolink integration in #homeassistant .
Have my "test camera" outside generating notifications with specific icons, an AI summary of what the snapshot is of, link to the full-resolution video and the live feed.
Gotta get 2-way audio working next methinks.

Don't update your Reolink WiFi Doorbell Camera to the latest firmware. It breaks RTSP.
I flashed to the old firmware from 2022 and it started working again. Tested this multiple times with same behavior every time. It's reported to Reolink.
