I went to the Trans Made Market and picked up a number of little things all made by super kind trans people! :) Honestly everyone there was just lovely and sweet. I absolutely love going to trans run markets. I feel so at home.

I still got overwhelmed and needed to take little breaks because my heels got scraped up in the boots I was wearing, but it was wonderful to wear some fun fashion as well. Lots of alternative fashion, especially goth and pastel clowncore.

In addition to all the stuff I bought, there were also shirts, art prints, and packers as well as prosthetics from your rules prosthetics. I love that those always feature in trans pride. They looked great too!

About 100,000 people joined #London #TransPride this year, compared with last year when the event recorded a turnout of about 60,000 people.

"Organisers and participants said this year's Trans Pride event, the sixth in a row, was of particular importance in the wake of the Supreme Court ruling in April, when judges said the words "woman" and "sex" in the Equality Act 2010 refer to a biological woman and biological sex."

I think I just had a major realisation about the reason I needed to move back to my hometown, as I did nearly 2 years ago now. Looking and understanding the specific reason has been haunting me for weeks, lingering in the back of my mind for months.

For context, I spent all my childhood in this rural town, or around depending on where my parents lived and with whom I was with, until I was 20. Then, following opportunities, I fled, to my Uni town, then to Brussels, then to UK and Senegal. Each time further away from what had been home. Never consciously, neither by desire or life plan, just circumstances. I had to flee because of the shame that I had when living here back then. And some personal very intimate things were very shameful, for reasons beyond my possible understanding considering the context (time, place and family), and clearly linked to my trans identity. There was also some shame I absorbed from my parents, shame that doesn’t belong to me.

30 years later, thanks to another opportunity, provided by a member of my family (!), I moved back here. Something I would have never thought I’d do one day, this has never been part of any plan, none, nunca, jamais. So why?

I’m back because I need to transform this shame into pride. Pride of living here as I am, Lætitia, and as I never had the chance to do. This is the realisation I just had, through a very specific event. I’m not here to hide myself away, I’m here to show myself, proudly. 💜
