My close friend Johannes shot a #MadMax Fan Film called Hope and Glory a year ago and in September it will be shown at Zoo Palast in #Berlin in #Dolby #Atmos (English). I would appreciate some boosts so we can get some more people to come since it’s quite a big cinema! Will be a double feature with the short film (45min) + Fury Road. zoopalast.premiumkino.de/film/

I love me some surround sound but have probably been a big cynical of the industry mission creep towards demanding Atmos mixes in a largely 2 channel and headphone listening world but looking into it more the - 18db limit in atmos means that it might just be the trend that forces modern music to stop over compressing and the awful loudness war creep that has ultimately degraded fidelity.

A great release for any day, not just a Monday, we're checking out Dexter Gordon's "Go" on #DailyJazz.

Another those 1960s jazz recordings when the genre was on fire with so much solid stuff, this sees saxophonist Gordon with Sonny Clark on piano, Butch Warren on bass, and Billy Higgins in drums.

It's a release that just vibes with the feel of what jazz is, and a great one to check out. And folks on #AppleMusic, it's in #Atmos, too.

Let's get stuck into a cool and fun release on #DailyJazz to celebrate the beginning of the weekend.

We'll kick it off with "Just Coolin'" by Art Blakey & The Messengers, a fantastic session from 1959 recorded in producer Rudy Van Gelder's living room. As you do. Sounds fun!

This one sees Blakey with Lee Morgan, Hank Mobley, Bobby Timmons, and Jamie Merritt, and it's even available in #Atmos if you have the gear. So cool.

Folks who know me know I love my jazz, but I also love my spatial, so when great jazz and #DolbyAtmos arrives, I need to share.

Today on #DailyJazz, I'm recommending the brilliant release of Duke Ellington and John Coltrane playing back in 1962 which has been mixed in #Atmos.

It was already a great album kicked off by "In A Sentimental Mood", and if you have the right gear, it's smooth in spatial, too. Great in stereo also!

Your Thursday is kicking off with the guitar genius of Grant Green on #DailyJazz, because what we really need is alliteration with the letter "g".

A fun album with a fun remaster if you happen to have #Atmos one #AppleMusic, this might only be four songs, but they're four excellent pieces helmed by excellent musicians in the 60s when so much great jazz was given to us. Check it out.

Something fun for a Thursday on #DailyJazz, this one is a remastered release of "Una Mass", Kenny Dorham's fantastic Spanish-inspired release with Herbie Hancock and Joe Henderson, to name a few playing with him.

It needs more than the four tracks, but if you have Apple Music, we're including an extra link for a three-song #Atmos remaster, too.

I can't believe it's taken this long to get to this album on #DailyJazz, but there is just THAT much great jazz. And "Ella and Louis" is one of those amazing albums you have to listen to.

Accompanied by the Oscar Peterson Quarter (who you'll see on this list often), it's two singers at their best. And if you have #Atmos gear, there's a great remaster on #AppleMusic, too, where it feels like you're in the room with them.

Just magic.

I admit, I found this article on #DolbyAtmos by searching for “#SpatialAudio is distracting”: nytimes.com/2023/06/21/arts/mu

The relevant quote from longtime #Prince engineer Susan Rogers: “That was what I noticed listening to ‘When Doves Cry’ in #Atmos. It sounded amazing, but it was more difficult to assemble it into a unified whole in that private place I listen to #music. I found it distracting.” Her “knee-jerk reaction was ‘do not want,’” she said. “But over time I may learn to like it.”

Is this the best song on my album? I’m slowly coming to think so – it wasn’t even up there as one of the top songs when I was making the album, but now it’s all over and released and I can listen to it as though it’s someone else’s, I now think this is the best one (shame, there were some others I imagined would be my favourite – maybe they tried too hard and this simply didn’t)

Also, it’s a positive uplifting song to give you a good state of mind – ejnoy!
