Representatives of #Czechoslovakia were made to wait outside while the 1938 #Münich Conference took place between #France , #Germany , #Italy and the #uk . The terms of the deal were dictated to them and they had to comply. Less than six months later #Germany occupied Prague and proclaimed a protectorate of #bohemia and #moravia while #slovakia became a notionally independent satellite state. War in #europe came later that year!
He was the offspring of a family of the petty nobility in #Lorraine whose members had established themselves as state servants in the archbishoprics of #Trier and #Mainz. Alexander von Greiffenklau zu Vollrads followed their footsteps. After his university studies in #Padua in 1630, he took a position as an Imperial councillor.
