The relatively new "Quite OK Audio Format" (QOA) is a lossy audio compression format.
According to Grzegorz Kraszewski, this could also be a good alternative for the Amiga in terms of computing effort, quality and file size. He has implemented a decoder in M68k assembler and written a tool that converts QOA files into uncompressed AIFF:

@gutenberg_org @internetarchive is anyone doing anything about the idea of including the codec with the scan for future future generations? I love digital archiving but at the same time there are already videos in my own archive that I can no longer easily decode.

FLAC 1.5.0 has been released today. With this release FLAC now supports multi-threading and the decoder can now also handle chained OGG FLAC files.

One of the most useful tools is to be able to cut an mp4/mov video, but not have to re-encode it. Avidemux used to do that for years on Linux, but now there's LosslessCut with a more modern interface (appimage found on github, there's also a flatpak).
As soon as I established he was relying on an external player for the OPUS file, it made sense to me that the game didn't rule out récent #codecs with massive out-of-band dictionaries, so I got my hands on the same source material.

Here's a very cool thing for audio data in #Zarr: someone has implemented the FLAC codec! https://github.com/AllenNeuralDynamics/flac-numcodecs (I haven't tested it) #flac #codec #audio
One candidate was TSAC, a high fidelity general neural audio codec with a transformer model to further increase the compression ratio.
Deterministic and reproducible.
