Is anyone else experiencing missing icons on postmarketos gnome mobile? Boosts appreciated!
Finally got around to replace #GnomeMobile with #Phosh on my OnePlus 6T with #postmarketOS. Thanks to @agx and @linuxmobile for the hints. I expected to just add the postmarketos-ui-phosh package but it complained about some conflicts. I had to manually del some postmarketos-ui-gnome-mobile packages and dependencies before I could add phosh.

While doing this I also did a postmarketos-release-upgrade. It's not really end user friendly at the moment but I consider pmOS still in development. After the reboot, I encountered a "Qualcomm Crashdump Mode" message for the first time in my life. A little disturbing, tbh, but after resetting the phone booted into tinydm+phosh as planned.
While GNOME Mobile isn't bad on a small screen, phosh is a little bit more optimized. I could imagine to give GNOME Mobile another try on my Mi Pad 5.
Just a reminder about the meetup in Christchurch, New Zealand on February 26.

Linux mobile people, you can make decent screen recordings with Kooha. So share some videos, and let's demonstrate how amazing Linux smartphones are! Settings that work best for me on OnePlus 6t are mp4 + 30fps. #postmarketos #gnomemobile #mobilelinux
I've just joined the #LinuxMobile gang with a Redmi Note 9S, Mobile network works, Cameras works, Wifi and bluetooth works, almost everything is working on this phone!
I'll try to install #Phosh to see if it's better than #GnomeMobile !
That's awesome news that #GTK4 gets an #Android backend. Soon it will be possible to have #gtk and #gnome applications also on your Android smartphone! (and, of course, on your #GnomeMobile smartphone and desktop, too)
Edit: That's the related discussion in the GTK Git: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gtk/-/merge_requests/7555#note_2329061
The dates for the first meeting have been set.
As already mentioned, it will be about Linux Mobile.
If you want to see a specific software, let me know and I will install it.

Have a good weekend.
Fediverse, what phones and mobile operating systems are you using?

Let me share some progress on the "Pushup Sessions" app. I have put it onto my OnePlus 6 and started testing and making necessary adjustments. Most things work and the workouts and training plans are safely stored in a sqlite database. Notifications for sessions is not implemented and translations are not set up yet. There is (optional) sound though and the proximity sensor is used, so I don't have to touch the screen with the nose. Here's a demo:
postmarketOS 24.12 released based on Alpine Linux 3.21 with GNOME Shell on Mobile 46, KDE Plasma Mobile 6.2.4, Phosh 0.43.1, Sxmo 1.17.0, doas instead of sudo
@wannoye #postmarketos Clearly there are some audio issues on the #oneplus6. I have two OP6 phones, one running v24.06 stable and one running Edge, both with #gnomemobile and I have had various issues with audio over the past month or so. With no audio at all in Earpiece, toggling audio off/on in settings have sometimes rectified the issue. More troubling (on Edge) is the crackling or distorted sound from Earpiece. https://gitlab.postmarketos.org/postmarketOS/pmaports/-/issues/3245
Weekly GNU-like #MobileLinux Update (44/2024): Forking #Flutter
Today, a friend told me that she got a new convertible that she wanted to use as a tablet and asked for my help replacing windows with Linux alternatives. I used Manjaro (testing branch) to install #phosh, #gnomemobile, and #plasmamobile. I have to say it wasn't smooth.
Failed to install Gnome Mobile using the AUR because of a failed checksum in the Mutter-mobile package.
Phosh was really really good, the only problem was that it doesn't remember my scaling choice and I have to change...
As I have abandoned Android and am now daily-driving Gnome mobile / PostmarketOS on my OnePlus 6, I feel the urge to contribute to filling the app gap. Nobody seems to have asked for an app to record push ups and track progress, but that's what I want to accomplish now. Here are some first impressions of my Libadwaita app, which I call "Pushup Sessions":
Hi @verdre , I wanted to ask you if the information on this page about "GNOME with GNOME Shell/Mutter WIP mobile patches" [1] is still up-to-date or whether Gnome Shell Mobile is has become more mature than described there. Thanks!
I love lock screen on Gnome Mobile. It is fucking gorgeous!!

Threema seems to just work fine via Waydroid. I have waited for the Threema 2.0 desktop app for Android to use it on my Linux phone, but it turns out that was not necessary.

My Android phone's life is coming to an end. I have no desire to spend more money to repair it or replace it by another Android phone (that doesn't run mobile Linux). So I will join those who daily drive their OnePlus6 with Gnome-mobile. I have already used it regularly for things like web browsing, mastodon, matrix, audio, but not for phone calls and text.
Any advice you can give me to get the best experience with calls? What energy settings do you use?
