"#Germany’s Chancellor-to-be Friedrich Merz (after winning the recent election) has adopted the same story. In a complete about-face from his election campaign, when he opposed any extra fiscal spending in order to ‘balance’ the government books, he is now promoting a plan to inject hundreds of billions in extra funding into Germany’s military and infrastructure, designed to revive and re-arm Europe’s largest economy. A new provision would exempt defence spending above 1 per cent of GDP from the “debt brake” that caps government borrowing, allowing Germany to raise an unlimited amount of debt to fund its armed forces and to provide military assistance to Ukraine. And he plans to introduce a constitutional amendment to set up a €500bn fund for infrastructure, which would run over ten years. Suddenly, there is plenty of cash and borrowing to be made available for arms and military ventures."

Here's an idea why people don't like Biden and think he made the economy worse.
Americans got stimulus, child & other checks from the govt. Then under Biden they weren't.
Never mind Biden gave the checks & Republicans stopped them. THAT is a lot to expect voters to understand.
Dems should have continued the checks because they made people's lives better.
Biden should campaign on starting them back up.

bioRxivMolecular encoding of stimulus features in a single sensory neuron type enables neuronal and behavioral plasticityNeurons modify their transcriptomes in response to an animal′s experience. How specific experiences are transduced to modu–late gene expression and precisely tune neuronal functions are not fully defined. Here, we describe the molecular profile of a thermosensory neuron pair in C. elegans experiencing different temperature stimuli. We find that distinct salient features of the temperature stimulus including its duration, magnitude of change, and absolute value are encoded in the gene expression program in this single neuron, and identify a novel transmem–brane protein and a transcription factor whose specific transcriptional dynamics are essential to drive neuronal, behavioral, and developmental plasticity. Expression changes are driven by broadly expressed activity-dependent transcription factors and corresponding cis-regulatory elements that nevertheless direct neuron– and stimulus-specific gene expression programs. Our results indicate that coupling of defined stimulus characteristics to the gene regulatory logic in individual specialized neuron types can customize neuronal properties to drive precise behavioral adaptation.
