I want to "detox", returning to plain old #rss
What #GNOME #rssreader do you suggest? #Thunderbird is good enough?
PS: sharing is appreciated
Update: many recent web-pages suggests Gnome Feeds https://gfeeds.gabmus.org/

@ilyess Yes, RSS is good for life. I consume them on a daily basis. It's a beautiful format and a magnificient way to access information.
I might replace my Inoreader subscription one day, but I don't know with what. NetNewsWire has a great app but its' only for Apple machines...
️ Newsboat Tags | July 04, 2025 - 12:30 p.m.
Today I learned that `newsboat` categorizes feeds based on tags which are automatically applied when you upload the `.opml` file. To view the tag list, you just hit `t`! `newsboat` just got a whole lot better!

I'm curious to hear what others are #SelfHosting! Here's my current setup:
Hardware & OS
Infrastructure & Networking
Security & Monitoring
Authentication & Identity Management
Productivity & Personal Tools
Notifications & Development Workflow
Accessibility Focus ️
Accessibility heavily influences my choices—I use a screen reader full-time (#ScreenReader), so I prioritize services usable without sight (#InclusiveDesign, #DigitalAccessibility). Always open to discussing accessibility experiences or recommendations!
I've also experimented with:
I don't really have a media collection, so no Plex or Jellyfin here (#MediaServer)—but I'm always open to suggestions! I've gotten a bit addicted to exploring new self-hosted services!
What's your setup like? Any cool services you'd recommend I try?
#SelfHosted #LinuxSelfHost #OpenSource #TechCommunity #FOSS #TechDIY
Linux users - I've been using Feedly since Google tried to kill RSS and it's now pretty much infested with AI and pushing AI features.
So I'm looking for free rss reader reccs, preferably via Browser
I don't want any AI or LLM features.
Welp. Inoreader just hit me with "Our new AI features!"
Bye bye, Inoreader. Trying out Newsblur now.
Okay, was benutzen Menschen denn heutzutage so als #RSS-Reader?
My last project is ready !
Remember : it's a RSS/Atom #feedreader for images and #photography
The #comingsoon page is here : https://artfeed.org/
I've been working the whole week, now everything is ready, and I'll start sending invitations on Monday.
If you use #RSS to escape the clutches of algorithms and are looking for a RSS Reader for #Android, or you're just curious about how fast one can be, I suggest trying #CapyReader:
https://github.com/jocmp/capyreader
It is extremely snappy, works very well and is under active development.
Oh, and the author is over here too:

What’s a good RSS reader: one that uses a good browser for web access, doesn’t track me or ask for all my info, and isn’t otherwise enshittified? I don’t even need to use it for reading (yet?) per se but am putting RSS links on my website and want to see how it looks from a reader.
EDIT: I've decided to use Inoreader to start with, but if you have recommendations for non-news technical, crafting, arts, or comics feeds, please share!

I've started a blog recently and I'm thinking it's probably worth having a page that explains what RSS is to help people get started.
Ideally I'd like to link to good resources where I can - are there any good pages out there that would be ideal for helping someone select their first RSS reader? Should ideally include free/FOSS options since I don't want to only point them to subscription services.
Cavie mastodon per un lector RSS, buscant l'equilibri.
Això no vol dir que ho deixe, trobe molt bon ambient i molt bona gent per ací.
What's everyone's favourite RSS reader and why? I can't find one I like.
Does anyone have any recommendations for #RSS/Atom readers that will sync between devices? I'm on Android and Linux. I don't mind self-hosting.
The tyranny of the algorithm. The one last site that I couldn't tear myself away from but had one was YouTube. I recently learned YouTube channels have RSS feeds. I am finally free. There is no algorithm on my social media now. And let me tell you, I am unbothered, moisturized, happy, in my lane, focused, flourishing.
(You all are great here on Mastodon by the way.)
