Wacholderdrossel zu Star: "Ey!"

Ein paar horizontale Zweige. Auf einem der oberen sitzt eine Drossel mit grauem Kopf, braunem Rücken und weißem Bauch mit schwarzen Punkten, nach unten schauend. Darunter ist die Rückenansicht eines noch fliegenden schwarzen Stars mit weißen Punkten und ausgebreiteten Flügeln zu sehen, der gerade dabei ist, auf dem unteren Zweig zu landen (an der Körperhaltung zu erkennen).

These birds come to our region in Germany only in Winter, when it is too cold for them Scandinavia and other parts of Northern Europe, where they breed.

A smallish thrush with mostly brown plumage. The belly is white with brown speckles, a white stripe goes from the beak over the eye to the back of its head. Under the wing is an orange-red stripe, which gives it its name. The bird is perched on a bush with red berries.

The same bird is now seen as it holds one of the berries in its beak.

OK the Hermit Thrush is coming & going, i still can't go outside & photograph without flushing birb but I have a slightly better photo through window glass & hope to get much better photos once the bird acclimates to my presence (assuming borb chooses to spend the winter here)

A bird with a big eye, speckled chest, and pink legs is perched on the small upturned hook of a shepherd's hook. The blurred out leaves of a green tree are some distance behind. This is the Hermit Thrush although I'm not sure you can tell from this angle since you can't see the rusty tail. I hope to be able to get more images soon but Christmas shopping is calling. it has been many a year since my backyard hosted a wintering Hermit Thrush but i got one today, hope i see birb again...

I am working from home today as I have a lunch meeting.

While working away, I looked outside, noticed a bird, grabbed the camera (always close to the back door), and took photos - and then realised it is a brand new species for the garden and me, and one which is uncommon in Saskatchewan. A varied thrush. Magnificent bird.
