@thibaultamartin I self host too and I also host other people. However, I don't do as much of it as I used to. Hosting other people is a huge headache so I let that business fade out.

I never made a serious effort to grow my #hosting service. It ran it as a social enterprise.

I didn't just offer good hosting to them, I also offered them support and advice they could trust. That kind of service is something that I should have valued more and priced in a way that was more fair to me.

Offering artisanal hosting run by an expert who knows you, your site, and your goals is something I wish I had more time to do. I'd love to see other people build a business from this model. My advice is to be sure to price it fairly to yourself and clearly explain the value you are providing.

Ich suche ein schlankes CMS zum selbst hosten mit einem LNMP. Was nimmt man denn da heute? Gerne auch ohne Datenbank. Wordpress ist viel zu groß, und auch nicht mehr wirklich bedienbar. #bludit hat mir gefallen, aber da scheint es keine Entwicklung mehr zu geben, das Git ist sehr ruhig. Wichtig ist, dass die Autoren mit einem WYSIWYG Editor Beiträge erstellen können, die direkt online sind. Also MD und SSGs sind keine Option für mich. Themes dürften auch noch gerne einfach anzupassen sein. Also eigentlich so wie Wordpress mal vor 20 Jahren war.

And for #CloudAct to apply, only one of these things need to be true:

  • #Hoster is owned in part if full by a #US #citizen or #company.
  • Hoster has a #subsidiary in the #USA.
  • Hoster is #hosting inside the USA.
  • Hoster offers services from within the US.
  • Hoster's (sole) upstream is from the US or has any of these conditions applying to them either.

And that doesn'r even cover the #blackmail the USA leverage against #organizations (#ICC) and #individuals they dislike.

I'm using several #CGI​s #RFC3875 for personal (scaled to n=1) web applications - be it (ephemeral) #QRCode qr.mro.name, #GeoHash mro.name/g/u28br conversion, a #nodb guestbook codeberg.org/jugendhacktlab.qd, a personal #ActivityPub server @aSeppoToTry or the hacky video-office-hours reservation system mro.name/sprechstunde. Once there even was a #HaveIBeenPwnd proof of concept blog.mro.name/2022/08/pwned-di.
They're #rootless deployments running on #shared #hosting (except qrcodes and HaveIBeenPwnd).
